Bjj & striking

Who here believe bjj alone is great for street self-defence. Everybody seems to think some striking art (or skill) should be added to bjj, what do you think? Are untrained people more dangerous with strike or with grappling in a street confrontation? Give me your opinion

Well acctually at my school we learn some open and closed hand blows but alot of the moves are self defense strikes and strikes that set up clinches and takes downs. Right where i want em.

Anyone in OC should come out to train at Ralph Gracie's. It's a great place to train. Classes are at 7:00pm to 9:00pm M-F and 10:00am - 12:00noon on sat. On thursday night we have a wrestling coach teach us take downs. The best aprt about it is there is a free introductory lesson so u can come and try it out. BJJ is very efficient alone. But if you also know how to strike, it is better, no ?

The cool thing about BJJ is that it ADDS to your arsenal rather than replaces it.

I like how the method allows you to get a guy into a position that lets you hit him, but he can't hit you back.

I've noticed that the guys who already know how to hit seem to have the advantage over guys who are pure BJJ and have to try and learn how to strike.

Strikers that get good at BJJ are really hard to handle. But the key is to get good at BJJ, because I've seen plenty of docile pure BJJ guys that hit like pansies yet could triangle your head off when they want to.
