Attacked at the mall

A sign of the times:
My instructor gave us a breakdown of a confrontation he was involved in at the mall food court today. He was waiting in line with his girlfriend in front of three punk teenagers who began to harass him about his school jacket. He ignored them until one of the punks started flicking his finger onto the picture of the tiger on his back. My instructor told us that he timed it and on the fifth "flick" he turned quickly and grabbed his wrist. With slight pressure, he asked "Now do you want to do that again?" all the while keeping his eye on the other two, who were swearing and shouting threats. His girlfriend hailed a security guard who escorted the punks out of the mall. A few people congratulated him as he ate his lunch. He made us proud to be training with him because he could have used a lot more force, but he only used what was necessary to end the confrontaion. I believe that is a true sign of an accomplished martial artist.

No, I believe your story was the one that was "bs". You may not like what you hear but that does not make it untrue.

Your instructor could have easily been arrested for battery. Unless your instructor is a physically small guy, the appropriate thing to do would be to ask if they had a problem. That usually works for me in situations like that. If they aren't too bright, tell them to be outside in ten minutes and start without him if he's late then forget about it. If they decide to escalate the situation, let them initiate it and deal with things appropriately. With the law it's CYA.

One more thing, someone touching your jacket doesn't really qualify as being attacked. Wearing a jacket displaying anything martial arts related is a GIANT magnet for trouble. Almost like walking in to a room and asking if anyone thinks they're tough enough to take you down. My advice, change the wardrobe and wear a plain jacket.

No one ever thinks about just peeing on yourself. I mean who really wants to touch a guy covered in his own pee. You wouldn't want to roll on the ground with him unless you really had no choice or liked his pee.

Always think defense after avoidance. pee does both.

Ends do not justify means. Unless you agree with this defense.
The instructor did not react any differently than I would have (unfortunately for me), however, He gave them what they wanted. A reaction.

It works for him. He has a Blue Belt awarded to him by the sports shop, £3.99 each.
