Mr. Sakuraba, you have fought and beaten two Gracie's from the famed
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu dynasty. What does that feel like?
No different. They are just men, like me.

How do you think Renzo Gracie is different than his relatives?
He is much better rounded. Definitely more dangerous than Royce or Royler.

Of those two, Royler and Royce. Who was the more dangerous opponent?
Royce definitely. He was stronger and weighed more.

If you win this fight with Renzo are there any plans for Rickson?
That is up to Rickson. I would fight him but he does not want to I think. There are
other people out there I would rather fight though. How many of the Gracie's do I
have to fight against? The whole family?

Did you train differently for Renzo than you for Royler and Royce?
No. I trained the same.

You are very famous in Japan and are starting to become quite well known
in Brazil and America. Any future plans to ever fight there?
I do not like to leave Japan.

What about a submissions only event like Abu Dhabi? Would you be willing
to compete there in 2001?
It is very far, and I like my life here. Plus I would have to train exclusively for that
tournament. Maybe someday. It is a good tournament.

Do you think this fight with Renzo will be your hardest fight to date?

Yes, he is a very dangerous man. The best of the Gracie's

After Sakuraba’s win against Renzo

Sakuraba san, congratulations! Did it go like you planned?
Not at all. He was very prepared for this fight. It was the hardest fight for me so
far.

Did you realize you had hurt his elbow right away?
Not at first. When I did I told the referee. I was worried for him. He is a good
man.

What did you think about what Renzo said after the fight with you?
I was honored and very pleased that he di not make excuses. He is a true warrior.
