Szczepankiewicz,
If that JJ.net was Gene 'Aranha' then I would imagine he's been a little busy since I believe he was getting married.
Just a thought

Yes, this is Gene Simco.

Sorry, SZ ... I was on my honeymoon. I do, however, appreciate your sarcasm - just think you were a little hard on a first time poster.

I just got back and am here to answer as many questions as I can. Of course I am biased, that's why I say to check out the reviews for yourself at my site - they are all 100% real.

And yes, of course one of my reasons for posting is to stand behind my product. I get behind it 100% and put my name on it. I AM my product.

- oh, PS. About the advertising, I didn't start the thread, I was simply trying to be as informative about my product as possible.

Question

So Gene, what makes your book so special in comparison to other books like The Fighter's Notebook, Machado books, etc?

And also, why don't you have it in shops?

Before I say anything, I want to thank my competition for writing good enough books to inspire me to create a better one.

I think the books mentioned here all have great things about them - no book is 'better' than the other.
Although the FN 'borrowed' a lot of BJJ, is not a Jiu-jitsu book.

Out of the BJJ books, I believe mine is the most complete and organized - it is the only book to sequence the techniques and is the only book that offers techniques divided into Sport and Vale Tudo sections, showing what technique(s) work best in each. Within each section, my book is broken down into sub sections to make things very easy to learn. My book is the largest and the only book that has never exaggerated the # of techniques or pages (at 328, it has the most pages and by far, the most techniques) in the advertising. I am showing the most advanced techniques with the greatest attention to detail possible while holding nothing back. My partner and I wear different color gis so you can see detail very well in the book.

Renzo & Royler fight very well, that is what they do. I teach Jiu-jitsu and write books, that is what I do.

My book is the only BJJ book with a technical support and customer service forum. I don't leave you out on your own once I take your money.

My work will continue to grow because I am the ONLY Jiu-jitsu book author on the net who is here to answer your questions, listen to your feedback and make my product better with each printing.

Believe me, I am fixing 90% of all suggestions or criticisms about my book - any of my previos customers will tell you I do that and that I am the only author doing that. That is why I have the best product and always will.

Why not in stores? Simple: Quality over quantity. I am very into customer service, I'd rather sell fewer books, getting feedback from each customer so that I can continue to refine my product.
From a business stand point, you sell books for Amazon for 60% off, then they undercut your price and put you out of business. I don't print in volume because I like to fix things when I get feedback every printing.

Once again, I will refer you to the reviews at my site - they are ALL real customers. No other BJJ book is as highly reviewed by both customers and credible sources alike as mine.

Cool, but the only problem is that you saying you are always updating the book makes me want to wait until next print, cause I don't know what criticisms have been made of your book and when you plan on updating them?

You have to view the Master Text as any good text book: it is never finished. BJJ is a science, so just like a science text book, it must be updated to stay valuable.

I have slowed down the updates so that you won't be buying a book every year. My next update will be so drastic that it will pretty much be a whole new book and will not happen for quite some time.

I have customers that purchase all my books and most will tell you that the extra info alone is worth the repeat info.

Each book, although it may have the same title, is usually completely different.

Now THAT is what I call ...... Well, I can't think of any appropriate comments that don't sound totally cheesy and suckupish!!!

Thanks, JJ.NET for coming back and posting. I hope you stick around and shoot the breeze with us for quite some time. Sweepem is the only reliable source for BJJ info (excluding Tim who rarely posts) on this entire forum.

I look forward to ordering a copy (Can I get it autographed?!?! ) and working through it.

Congratulations on your marriage and honeymoon. It's nice to see that I'm not the only glutton for punishment...

Thanks

Hey, no problem!
When you order the book, use the special instructions line of the order form to let me know who you are and tell me to sign the book. Provided that I'm in town when you order it, Heather will pass it along to me when she runs your order.

I'll stop by when I can!

JIU-JITSU.NET, does your book show anything that the other books do not? I bought Renzo and Royler's book a little while back. It was a very nice book, but the problem is with only 1 year of BJJ training, I knew 90% of the techniques already. There were only like 100 techniques in the book.
Although I didn't learn many new techniques, the book helps to refine techniques and it's a good reference.
Can your book offer techniques that someone with only 1 year of experience would not know?

Mr. Poopy

Yes, my book has at least 3x the number of techniques. It also has techniques that would be considered 'advanced' and 'new' by some. Not too much is missed.

Another nice thing about my book is that it is broken down into sections of moves that work better with the gi, without the gi, and without the gi for a no rules situation. Other books just lump sport and self sefense together, when in reality, they are two different things.

My book is also sequenced based on an action-reaction thing. I show a move, the escape to that move, the prevention, and the thext move shown is the counter to the escape from the first move. Most of the book is organized in this way & that is what makes your jiu-jitu advanced - not the moved itself, but your ability to combine it with others effectively and perform it properly.

I ordered a copy of this book yesterday. Now I suppose I have to be nicer to Gene, as he as all my background info and can track me down....

I look forward to reading/studying and I will post my likes and dislikes at a later date.
