    Default The Master Text

Is BJJ The Master Text worth the money? It was suggested I get that book in another thread, wanted to see some opinions on it.
    thanx
Self-defense is only an illusion, a dark cloak beneath which lurks a razor-sharp dagger waiting to be plunged into the first unwary victim.
Whoever declares that any weapon manufactured today, whether it be a nuclear missle or a .38 special, is created for self-defense should look a little more closely at his own image in the mirror. Either he is a liar or is deceiving himself.
Wing Chun kung fu is a very sophisticated weapon--nothing else. It is a science of combat, the intent of which is the total incapacitation of an opponent. It is straightforward, efficient and deadly. If you're looking to learn self-defense, don't study Wing Chun. It would be better for you to master the art of invisibility

Obviously I am going to say it is a good book, but if you go to my site and check out the reviews, they are all 100% real people. The book has been reviewed by very credible sources, including Black Belt magazine.

Many people who post at the forum at www.jiu-jitsu.net also own the book, so you might want to post this question there.

LoL BlackBelt magazine is the McDojo Bible.

That being said, is this book better than the Renzo/Royler one that's currently out there?

    Wadda Country!

I have studied from the Renzo\Royler Book. Not having any formal BJJ training, I was able to understand the techniques I have studied fairly well and get them to work on the mat.

Who knows if my technique is correct or not, but I have spent a lot of time training from this book and I found it easy and interesting to read, understand, and study.

I have not read the other book listed on this thread.

The Master Text is definitely worth the money. It is by far the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu refrence book out there and you will not be disapointed.

There are alot of illustrated techniques, more than any other grappling book that I have seen thus far. The photos look good and the descrption of the techniques are great as well.

Not bad for someone who is posting for the very first time. I trust you implicitly and will definitely be buying a copy today. Anything else you'd like to sell me while I have my credit card out????

Actually, I bought the book when it first came out. I had previously bought one of the earlier versions of Gene's book which I thought was good, so I decided to buy the master text.

Also, I've been lurking on this board for quite some time. I just post or reply to threads if i have something to contribute.

Ahhhh, I see. You're one of them !

So tell me about the book. What parts do you like, don't like, etc?

You bet JJ.NET this forum is dead because Szczepankiewicz is a sarcastic windbag..... All my fault. My apologies.

Whaaaaaat? No more replies from JJ.Net or Ghost? So you REALLY were just posting here to advertise?

    How lame is that?

Complain about how this forum has gone downhill then not bother to support it by posting good stuff.

Come on JJ.net, if you are who I think you are then you have tons of good stuff to post that would make this place much more interesting to visit.....

FIGHTER: If you do buy the book, please post a review. I'd love to read what you thought on this work.

    Thanks,

    Sz
