hmmm, thats a tuff question. Its easier said than done. I don't know If I could kill someone, well maybe If I or another person was in imediate danger. Vengeance I dont think so. I try not to judge people for what they do. Who am I to deal out death? I leave that to God. In war of course then I would kill; again easier said than done, but I'm quite sure I would end someone's life if they were trying to end mine. After all, you don't win wars by dying for your country, you win wars by making the other guy die for his country.

Wing Chun kung fu is a very sophisticated weapon--nothing else. It is a science of combat, the intent of which is the total incapacitation of an opponent. It is straightforward, efficient and deadly. If you're looking to learn self-defense, don't study Wing Chun. It would be better for you to master the art of invisibility

I could do it, but why would I EVER need to???

I'd always opt for the lesser option, and I can't think of any realistic reason as to why I would ever need to kill!

Good question.

This is something that anyone in involved in the martial arts should ask themselves at one point. Especially those guys who consider themselves more than mere ring fighters.

Those troops who fight in the military, the marines, foot soldiers, the suicide bombers, the B52 pilots who drop bombs in Afghanistan.....

Like it or not, they are martial artists. A gi, and a blet around your waist does not mean you are the only 'martial artist'.

Anytime you commit yourself to combat, you are involving yourself in the martial arts.

You look at all those Chinese Kung Fu weapon guys and call them martial artists.... well, those same guys with the staff and pole and sword. Nowadays they replaced the sword with a rifle, and the horse with a tank.

Martial = war

War=killing

It's that simple.

Now to answer your question.

Could I kill a man? Yes. No problem. That is not to say I'm gonna go and hack some innocent to death the way both US and Middle Eastern militaries do so and never feel guilty about it.

No. If it were for revenge of a dead family member, life death situation etc. It is no problem to kill. In fact, this kind of attitude albeit destructive and uncivilized, is what will keeps me fearless.

One thing to keep in mind though, you must have a balance in your philosophy if it is in you to kill. You must be willing to die for the same reason you are willing to kill. Otherwise you ain't nothin but a cold blooded murderer.
