Got jumped last night by 10 guys.

Last Tuesday, my friends who were visiting from LA came with me to a cafe to hang out and stuff. The only reason I go there is for the waitress and everyone knew I only went on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. At the cafe, we met up with some people I was cool with. Two of them I knew and even have been to the gym with them to work out and those two even came to my house. One I didnt know at all.

We were all talking with each other, and I told them that my friends were visiting from Los Angeles and that I was originally from there. Five min later, the guy I didnt know at all anounces "**** America."

I said "Watch your mouth, we're all americans here, you knew that too."

He goes "Oh, I'm really sorry man, I forgot, I was being stupid."


And so the confrontation ends. My friends and I forgot all about it and partied all week in Montreal. Last night we decided to go to the cafe again to get some tea and just play cards.

As I entered the cafe with my friends, I immediately noticed the same people from the last time. I say whats up with the three guys. One of the guys, I thought I was especially tight with looked at me strangely, like he didnt want to be there. He had a look of worry, but I automatically discounted that.

So we sat down and played cards, talked for hours. Out of the corner of my eye, we all noticed that several calls were being made with cell phones and that people were looking at us. We idiotically ddint think anything of it. We just thought that they were checking out my female friend.

I saw them all leave and about half an hour later we decided to leave as well. As we crossed the parking lot, I noticed the same guy who made that prior comment look at me with hate and aggression. He stood up from his position and walked towards me with a purposeful stride, behind him 4 guys followed, I knew I was in trouble. While he was walking towards me, he was also yelling obscenities and when he was in range, I threw a low left switch kick to his thigh and followed up with a right cross, he immediately grabbed me, but I just put him in the plumb and was on the verge of kneeing and all of a sudden I felt several blows to my head, one was especially hard. Those blows from behind were from people we didn’t see before and sucker attacked me. I was told it was 5 people. I was so pissed that I didn’t pay them any mind, I just went after that asshole and someone tripped me from behind and as I went down, I took a bat to the face. 8 guys were stomping on me while another was in my guard, I put in a guillotine and cranked on the mother****er.

My two friends waded in slugging. The guy with the bat hit my friend in the back of the head. Funny thing was, the people refused to engage with my friends, they just tried to avoid me and go after me. I managed to get up because my friends distracted them. And my friend was yelling at them to stop. I had blood on my face and was smiling like a loser and told them "come on! Why the ****s are all you on me?? I just want this guy" A person on my right side was yelling at me, and as I turned to him I felt two punches to my head. I turned and gave that guy a jab and cross, he staggered from the blows, but at that moment, everyone came rushing at me again. I just swung and swung. Then people started to come out and watch. All the people just scattered, and suddenly I wasn’t being attacked anymore.

All in all, two blows really marked me up, them coming from a bat. The other punches were powder puffs. Those losers needed 10 people and a bat to beat up on a 135lbs pound guy. I was being severely proud and stupid, my friends could of really gotten hurt, especially the female friend. This I feel horrible about. Thank god I am moving to Boston, I think all of the Asian guys don’t like me here in my city. I have several options to explore, because I am not with out friends, on the other hand, I do not wish to accelerate the situation. Another thing I noticed was my so called “friend” was not present in the fight.

Well what do you guys think? This is my first real beat down. But at least the one guy did not come out unhurt, I beat that ****er good.

What you do now all depends on what you want to accomplish and how far you want to take it.

That was some chicken**** if I've ever heard it. 10 on 1 and a bat doesn't even sound cool. Sounds like they were really trying to hurt you.

My advice is to lay low and if they still want a piece they will come find you. Then you can call the cops or just commence to whoopin' ass.

If they couldn't take you out with those odds, they might want to rethink their whole game plan.....

Haha, yeah it sux u got jumped and all, but considering that they swung a bat at you, it coulda ended up a lot worse (altho ur probably ugly to begin with ) I think that u should commend yourself for not balling up and taking a beating like a conquered coward. All in all, u seem to have handled it pretty well all things considered. The thing is when ur out hanging out you should always keep your mouth shut as much as possible unless it is extremely necessary to do otherwise. Or else the punks will always come out of the woodwork and ruin what could've been a good time. You don't need to prove nuthin (I hope) so just let morons talk...don't mean nuthin. Save the effort for when u really need it.

Guys in the Asian scene seem to like jumping people en masse like a bunch of insecure cowards pretty often from what i've seen. And most of the time its for stupid reasons. They're pu$$ies. A real man either has the character to either let stupid $hit go or settle serious stuff man to man. Dunno what the deal is with them. In all honesty a lot of them are pint sized twerps who can't look tough any other way. Oh, and I'm not being racist or anything...I'm Chinese. But still, i gotta call it as i see it.

Well you made a lot of environmental and awareness mistakes that could have probably saved you from a beating. MA doesn't do all that much against 10 armed guys. Even if you do beat the hell outta one of them. (hope you broke his damn neck, by the way.)

You might want to take a look at some of Richard Dimitri's, Peyton Quinn's, or even Sammy Franco's stuff to compliment your training. Lots of focus on awareness, body language, de-escalation skills, etc.

If there's one funny thing about all this it's that if you had only got attacked by 2, 3, or 4 people you probably would have been seriously beaten shitless, but cause they attacked with so many damned people they just got in each other's way and overall made themselves look totally pathetic!

If such a situation ever arises for you again just assume that one of them DOES have a machette, cause if that happens you won't walk away!

Glad you're okay, aside from a few bumps and bruises. It is unfortunate that some people feel a need to ambush and have their buddies join in on what should have been a one-on-one fight. Very dishonorable when someone does that.

Mad Merv - I couldnt agree more, I am stupid. I was also thinking about my car. They were directly infront of it. But that is beside the point. I wasnt thinking. What about the girl I was with? Or my other two friends that had nothing to do with it? Them all not being even native to my area? Do I leave them? The people refused to engage with my friends, although my friends were seriously trying to defuse the situation and get people off me. They were simply too many in numbers and they simply avoided them and went after me, even after attacks from them. Even if I had retreated, I would have been attacked from behind as well.

Ryu-So many things happened that should of set off warning bells. Like how they looked at me strangely, or how they kept on making phone calls. I was so preoccupied on winning a goddamn card game that I was very distracted.

The cafe is called Bubble Republic on Creditview and Burnhamthorpe.

Bau- I never met these guys b4 in my life. Only the week before with that incident. The attack came two days ago with only that incident in mind.


The only member of their party I knew "was" my friend. We met at summer school and hung out once or twice. He looked very troubled when I said hi to him two nights ago. I also observed that his friends had waited until he had left to fight with me.

I am leaving for Boston very soon, and have made arrangements to leave a special message and present for my new found Canadian friends, with love from America.
