Thumbs down ive used bjj in a fight.....

i do bjj and other styles. i was in a fight today and i tried to grapple. im sorry to say that ive lost terribly. i fought a MuayThai guy, im a Muay Thai fighter myself but experimented with BJJ. every attempt to go in and grab him i made was unsuccessful becasue i was kneed. i was in a low profile stance and was kicked to the floor. next and every time, ill use Muay Thai. BJJ a good art for NHB because theres mats but dont use it on the streets, theres too much shit on the floor.

doesn't sound like you ever got to use bjj. You need to work on your clinch range more. If you had good work from the clinch and better takedowns you might feel differently about bjj.

Why would YOU be on the "shit" on the floor? If you know how to grapple it's the opponent who gets his back cut up from "shit" on the floor.....not you.

And for that matter why are "fighters" so afraid of "shit" on the floor? Am I the only one who rolls on concrete, dirt, snow, etc.?

Man... I bet a BJJ takedown on cement hurts like hell. Enough to make the opponent suffer in pain and get neutralized... I mean, imagine falling on a piece of rock, or just fall on your back to the concrete... After the takedown, u can pound his face and earlobes, and then apply a straight down forearm choke to finish... BJJ is way too cool...

Against a good stiker you will never get a chance to get close enough to use your BJJ.

UFC I... Thanx for bringing it along. The final fight was Royce Gracie, of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu vs. Gerard Gordieu, a Kyokushinkai Karate-Savate practitioner. Gordieu was tough, a hard striker (knocked out a tooth in the fight vs. Tuli. and stomped Rosier till the ref stopped the fight). And who won? Gracie did.

See Superdude, u keep on underestimating BJJ. And you just take for granted the BJJ guy cannot strike... What if he knows Muay Thai, kicked ass and then finished the fight on the ground, huh? I mean, you know 20 different styles... Why can't a BJJ practitioner know some Thai or Kickboxing?? No... You are Superdude... "You would be unconscious before you would have a chance to even touch me"... C'mon man. Think a bit more. Tito Ortiz blabbered he could beat Frank Shamrock in UFC 22... And Shamrock is the perfect example. He's an awesome fighter, he has proved it many times without talking. Ortiz knows his stuff too, he's a UFC champ. Ortiz has gone a long way, and I respect him, regardless of his attitude. Shamrock defeated Ortiz in UFC 22... Made Tito tap the mat...

i've used bjj in a fight but not the whole idea.. it's good to know it but mt and boxing are good idea..

i'll use take downs... and maybe a key lock to end it..

but i'll use the other stuff as a sneaky tacktic.. like if he's on top and you guard him but still got it under control ... you can arm lock him and he wont know... it's just how you do it..

i never tell someone i'm gonna fight on the street..
"hey **** it lets fight"... foo you just gotta attack.. be nice and say ?? what ? then boom strike.. dont let him get on his toes.. just get first hits and take him down... go for his eyes jab his nuts what ever.. no rules on the block..

Mouth piece and Mace...

I think u r the man for the job... There's this guy Superdude that challenged everybody in the forum, so u might wanna practice some street with him. He says he's bad and that he can even take 3 attackers simultaneously and kick their ass. Have a look in his thread...
