wasn't it supposed to be Mark Hunt ( 2001 K-1 champion) fighting Frye?

result was not surprising though.... they fought under K-1 rules! Frye didn't stand a chance against a top callibre K-1 guy....

I think Royce seriously does need to update his game.

They said it was some type of controversial loss. The Gracies had denied a tap. What really surprised me was Rodrigo Nogueira submitting Bob Sapp. He has just proven himself to be the best heavyweight of NHB. He's already beat everybody!

Wink

The Gracie's do NOT TAP!!!

I feel Royce vs Yoshida was WAY CONTROVERSIAL and should not be considered a win by Yoshida by any means IMHO!

Thumbs down

Its going to be declared a no-contest. The gracies recieved calls from pride apologizing for the mistake. Royce jumped up and pushed the ref he was so pissed. his ONE TIME the Graices DID get robbed and have a REASON to complain. Alot of people are saying this was on purpose.

No, the Gracies do not tap. Helio's corner threw in the towekl after his arm was broken and Royce was choked out, according to news repoorts. Maybe the 100th anniversary will go better. Or maybe they will have the grace to fight the next time under Judo rules, that excludes ankle locks, knee locks, kicks and puncehs and includes throws and pins as techniques of value.

At least the two games Judo winners, Kimura and Yoshida
had the guts to playby BJJ rules

On Yoshida it is much more a thrower then a matwork guy. Almost all of his matches at the Worlds and the Olympics were won by a single throw, uchimate., He retired last year shortky after C Honorato broke his arm during a throw in the quarter finals at the Sydney Olympics. It is very ironic that Honorato is from Brazil. It seems that Brazilian judokas can do more against Yoshida then BJJ'ers. Mastula of Poland would be a judoka who wins a hig percenatge of his matches on te mat.Havinfg sene hin in action I do not think there is any BBJ'er ( Sperry etc ) who could have come close to him

Maybe there will be a video made on the Judo invasion of BJJ is next

tom b - you got your shit mixed up. If Royce was choked out how could he get up and start screaming. If I choked you out you'd be damn sure you'd be lying on the mat. Don't you want mma events???? Remember Enson in Nog's triangle??? completely out buddy.

Yoshida a thrower... he couldn't get off a single throw... nice.

Yoshida didn't win so it doesn't prove crap and another thing. If Yoshida is the best there is in the Judo world at ne-waza then they got some serious trouble. People the likes of Mario Sperry, Royler Gracie, JJ Machado will ****ing cream Yoshidas ass in a grappling match. Oh and if Yoshida were to mix it up in MMA, Nog would totally **** him up.

As for Royce, he wasn't ready. That guy needs to weight train and roll with some new training partners.

What exactly were the special rules of royce's fight? And did he really lose or not? Was he getting his ass handed to him before they stopped the fight?
The gracie's don't tap, they just throw in the towel before they get totally whipped.

From what I heard, and I could be wrong, was that Yoshida had mount and a gi choke on Royce. The way Royce was underneath him, the ref couldn't see Royce's face. Aparrently the ref thought Royce was choked out because he thought Royce had gone limp, so he stopped the fight.
