I never heard the story about a fighter, or two, spitting in his face.

Remco and Bas essentially told Boztepe to keep his bull sh*t challenges to himself. Bas did it in person, Remco did it by speaking publicly about the situation.

One of Boztepe's big "problems" was his claim that the UFC was fixed. He actually, and publicly, called the fighters fakes. Bas, as a former UFC champ, and Remco, a UFC veteran (who fight Royce and who I think would be an even better fit in today's UFC picture) obviously took offense to Boztepe's accusations.

I can't believe this thread has gone on so long! I mean, I've studied Wing Chun for over 10 years (please don't say "Well, you don't know Wing Tsun man!" Chun or Tsun, most of it's the same old sh!t.) I've also cross trained in JKD and BJJ, and Emin's "anti-grappling" stuff is ridiculous. Also silly is the argument that NHB matches don't allow for "street" rules like eye strikes. It's B.S. too...I mean if you think you can just "eye strike" any old grappler then trust me, they're thinking "I'm just gonna shield till I get my hands on his head and twist." I think most savvier martial artists will agree on two things:

1. Learning one martial art isn't enough to be well rounded.

2. Emin Boztepe is a ridiculous person.

Although I think Boztepe wouldn't be easy to handle for anyone, I agree that the majority of WC/WT practiotioners are just foolishly deluded when they think to be able to defeat good grapplers with just "fingers in their eyes"...
I know a ridiculous female WC instructor here, who has never had a fight, but who still pontificates on how to beat this and that fighter....

What I know for sure, however, is that Boztepe and his closest students do learn grappling (also with Machado bros. from time to time). So he's well aware of the necessity to be all rounded fighters. He doesn't tell it (yet) publicly because for business reasons you must sell the illusion that just doing chi-sau, lat-sau and some chain-punching you can defeat any attacker. I know that, as I also studied WT under Boztepe's EBMAS.

Yea, but if you take one or two of these lads bravado, you're missing the "essence" of these posters. I.e. Emin is an asshole, and so are most of the haughty arrogant followers of him. If GM Cheung didn't have his back turned, he likely would turn him to ashes. The stupid followers (and they are stupid indeed) don't acknowledge that. Some idiot from Detroit detroitwingchun as well as others continue to flaunt this.......when they really should be embarrased.

I second grandmaster Georgle Carlin's philosophy on fighting and challenges.

I think everyone in the world should challenge and fight everyone else. We should let everyone fight, bite, kick, stomp, punch, gouge, hit, butt, elbow, choke, submit, and pound everyone else into bloody stumps until there is only one champion left from the fray. The Ultimate Challenger!
Then the Ultimate Challenger should be taken to a high pedestal of gold, silver, and diamonds. We should place him an an altar of beauty and presitge, give him money, girls, and fast cars (because that's what we consider the measures of success), push him up so that he towers above all others, give him our praise, ....and then shoot him in the fucking head.

I am not a follower of Boztepe. I don't think Wing Chun is up to much neither.

But William Cheung did not have his back turned. Boztepe showed Cheung one of the many articles where Cheung had boasted that he was the ONLY person to have been taught real WC, and that he could beat any challenger from any art to prove it.

Boztepe showed him the article (and there is photographic proof somewhere, I saw it in the magaizines of the day - I am that old....), asked him whether or not he meant it, and then set about kicking the shit out of him. Badly thogh. Like I said, WC is cack.

At the time Cheungy merely claimed that his slippery Kung Fu slippers were the cause of his downfall. It is only in the last few years that new and creative bull shit excuses were dreamt up, including:-

- Boztepe had armed helpers who forced Cheung to lose on purpose
- Boztepe jumped on his back without warning
- Cheung actually "won" the encounter.

All these are, of course, a heap of shite.

I am no fan of Boztepe. But he made Cheung eat shit that day, and the boastful Cheung fukkin deserved it.

Im 100% sure that even though William Cheung is getting older, he would destroy boztepe and/or leung ting within seconds during a fight. I've met him during a seminar and I saw what he could do...

Yes. Get the damn story straight. Talk to Tameo, a self confessed Cheung fanatic who willingly swallows each and every piece of shite the Cheung camp offers.

Or speak to Tha Bri, who cares for neither combatant, isn't into Wing Chun and was in the MA scene at the time, reading the reports as they came.

Including Cheungs boastful claim, Boztepes acceptance of the challnege and then the one and only slippery slippers excuse. Others added later, once the air had cleared a bit and Cheung the Boastful resurfaced in attempts to claw back his credibility.

ps - Tameo, why not post those WC clips again. The ones that look like piss awful kick boxing?
