    Me at the Gracie Academy...

This summer I went to Cali for two weeks and for two weeks I trained morning and night at the Gracie Academy. I went in there with the "perception" that Rorion would be this and be that, but he was really nice to me and even watched the 2001 Mundial with me at the Academy. Training with Ryron, Renner, and Ralek(16) was some of the best training I have ever had. Renner can hit footlocks from ANYWHERE! Ryron is incredable and Ralek is pretty damn good too! When I get the pics up I'll post them. They should be all up by tommorow....

Who are the primary teachers at the Academy? How big were the classes? Are there alot of higher belts? How about price..what did it cost you?

    Thanks Max

Ryron and Renner teach the adult classes and Ralek teaches the kids classes. Sometimes Rorion will teach a little. The classes varied in size. Sometimes only 4 people would show up, but lots of times there would be at least 7 people. Theres lots of people that train there and Ryron and Renner have at least 4-5 privates a day. The academy is doing pretty well for itself. As with all academys, you have hobbiest. The Gracie Academy has some good blue belts that are on on level with with any academy. They have lots of purple belts but most of them are over 30. Theres two really good purples there that are around 20-25 years old. You see, I read all this crap on the net about how they dont have any "good" students. Not true, just most of them dont compete so you dont get to see them.

Since I am not with a Gracie Academy training association, I took the "intensive" training course which is 125 per week, only for unregisterd students. Again, becuase I read all this crap on the net about how much they charge I thought it would cost me at leaste 300 for all the training I wanted to do. There unlimted training for registerd students is like 150 I think? Not much more or less compared to other schools. The school is doing very well for itself.

Since I'm 16 it wasnt like I could go drive myself around any time I wanted to. Every day after the morning training I was with Ryron/Renner at the beach, then eat lunch, then back to Ryrons place for a little nap. Then back to the academy. Everybody there was very nice and the training was very good. They really drill the basics into you over there.

    Thanks,
I had trained there a few years back when Royce and Caique were teaching and was curious how things have changed. The intensives used to be about $270.00 per week so it looks like they have dropped their price. They definitely teach a good basic foundation. Glad you had fun.

GRD STORM- I am six feet tall, and weigh 140 pounds. I just started working out (body weights) and am taking whey protein. Once my wrist gets better (had a contusion or bruised bone) about 4 weeks ago training and am now just getting back on the mat. When it heals up completely I'll hit some of the weights, but mostly body weight stuff.

BTW- Full pics are at www.tpcjiujitsu.com/clay

Impressive gallery. I take whey protein as well for lifting, but if you really want to put on the pounds you should try a mass gainer. I had jaw surgery last summer and it really helped me regain my weight FAST.

And dude, that better not be your girlfriend. DAYYYYYYYMMMN

I just decided to get a picture with her before I left and right before we took the pic Renner was giving me the "staredown", and like I'm gonna kick your ass. LOL, I knew he was just joking around so thats why I look so demented in that picuture. I was trying to keep from laughing...
