To those who don't know Ian, he has fought in 3 UFC competitions to date.
He's currently nursing some busted ribs but hopes to be back in action very soon. I'd like to say he's worth his weight in gold to Choke Athletic. It's also a nice touch him making that point of contact with everyone out here. Ian, I'd like to know more about your fight stable. I know that we're all going over to Russia soon, but I'd like to hear what kind of training the guys are are doing with you?? I understand that the Russian fighters are tough people. Thanks for the welcome guy's.
To keep you informed, I have three guy's fighting in Russia in the M-1 Mixed Fight on the 11th November 2000. Carl simpson - 4 man tourney - under 90kg. Colin Sexton - 4 man tourney - over 90kg. Simon Barnett- heavyweight superbout. As for myself, I train a little Jiu jitsu in Britain, but most of my style is pure Vale Tudo. I like the Ground & Pound side of fighting. I'm still new at the game, but getting better by the day. Thanks again.

Hi Ian; It's great to have you here; wow, right with Duchman, Myself and Filippo you are Now a proud member of the renowed "European Mousel's gang" WELCOME!
I have the outmost respect for you, right now it seems that Englad is leading the MMA way in europe: it's the only other place where Ruas Vale Tudo has spread nicely (I'm a RVT student from Italy). BTW; if you forum brothers are intersted inchecking some info on the machine and some other tough england guy go to: http://www.Geocities.com/unlicensed2000/ |

Hello, and welcome. ![]() I don't compete, but I train, and am a fan, of good ground and pound. It's a pleasure to have you on the board. Take care, Ryu

Welcome aboard. And let me be the first to start with the questions.
What do you feel are the major differances between BJJ and Vale Tudo? Also, you said you liked ground and pound.Does this mean that you would stay in the guard and strike?Or do you try and pass the guard ? |

Hi guy's,
It's nice to get respect from you all, thank you. dan downard : I have trained in BJJ and Vale Tudo. I have trained with a great deal of top fighters in the world including the Gracie, Machado & Ruas. You ask if there is a difference between BJJ and Vale Tudo? All I can say is BJJ is very skilled as too is Vale Tudo, thats why I train at both. Each has it's own purpose for fighting and with me doing No Holds Barred, it fits in just nice. If however, I was just grappling and not striking, then it would be BJJ for me, as Vale Tudo incorporates knees to the head on the ground, elbows to the face, etc, etc. So, to be honest, there is non that is better than the other as every Martial Art has it's own benifit and style.
