Hey jmd161 - What's Black Tiger?

Hey jmd161,

I have read a few of your posts about Black Tiger Kung Fu. I train in BJJ, and love it, but I am not the 'norm' when it comes to opinions on this board.

Usually you read the basic 'If it's not BJJ, it's crap' comments, but I respect and want to understand as much as possible about other arts as well.

So sincerely, what's this Black Tiger all about?

That is a very humble and polite question. I would also be interested in the answer. But I'm sick of hearing him mention it!

I got this from another of his posts ;-

"My Black Tiger Master is the Chairman of the Black Tiger assoc.In Hong Kong.And he is also the Grandmaster of Black Tiger Style."

So, the Grandmaster and Chairman of the venerable Black Tiger Kung Fu School lives and works in Miami Beach...........but I bet he goes and visits his millions of students in Hong Kong all the time, right?

This reminds me of an article I saw in Combat Magazine many years ago. And there many people like these...... 2 brothers design "their own style" of Jiu Jitsu. They hold their own "World Championships" (in some tin pot town in the middle of nowhere), and only people from their little club attend. Guess what? One of the brothers wins and DECLARES HIMSELF THE WORLD CHAMPION!

Well OK. I am now the Venerable Grand Mastery Chairmany World Champion of the ancient art of Pink Panther......

Right, hands up who has heard of Black Tiger before this guy came along? Think carefully, as all kinds of knob sticks use the word "Tiger" in the names of their ancient and mysterious arts. Threre, here's a quick hand count....... NONE!

And as for smacking iron bars into your forearms and hitting concrete posts......What does your Master do as a sideline? private medicine?

We don't dothese things in Pink Panther...but students do occasionally leap out of the fridge to test us........

I read that post also and kinda felt 'funny' about it.

Anyone remember that movie 'Kickboxer' with Jean Claude Van Dancer... He tried kicking a bamboo tree, but it hurt too much. Only after MUCH practice was he able to do it correctly.
