THE 1st AMERICAN NATIONAL BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP

THE TOURNAMENT

The 1st AMERICAN NATIONAL JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP will be held on November 2nd and 3rd. At the Hawthorne Memorial Center - 3901 W. El Segundo Blvd, Hawthorne, CA. 90250 Saturday’s tournament will be an open tournament for all women and men adult competitors. Sunday’s USA Trails tournament is the qualifier for the right to represent Team USA against Team Brazil in next years Team Challenge Tournament to be held in the USA.


Saturday November 2, 2002
OPEN TOURNAMENT

ADULT MEN
This tournament is open for all male competitors. Competitors can only enroll in their age division. Competitors of other age divisions will not be allowed to fight in any other age divisions but their own.
Time Limits :
White Belt - 5 min
Blue Belt - 6 min
Purple Belt - 7 min
Brown Belt - 8 min
Black Belt - 10 min

MEN - MASTERS (30-35)
Competitors born between 1967 and 1972
Time Limits:
White & Blue Belt - 5 min
Purple / Brown / Black Belts - 6 min

MEN SENIORS (1) AGES 36-40
Competitors born between 1962 and 1966
Time Limits:
All Belts - 5 min

MEN SENIORS (2) AGES 41-45
Competitors born between 1957 and 1961
Time Limits:
All Belts - 5 min
MEN SENIORS (3) OVER 46
Competitors born before 1956
Time Limits:
All Belts - 5 min

WOMEN
There will be 3 weight divisions (check weight list)
Purple, Brown and Black Belts will compete in the same division

Time Limits:
Whte Belt – 5 min
Blue Belt - 6 min
Purple / Brown / Black Belts - 7 min

USA TRIALS

ADULT MEN ONLY

The USA Trails tournament is only open to men’s blue, purple, brown and black belts. All 1st place finishers of The USA Trails tournament will represent Team USA in the Team Challenge Tournament Vs Brazil. The competitors will be ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd corresponding with which place they came in after the conclusion of the tournament. Competitors who win their respected division will represent Team USA in that division for the Team Challenge Tournament. If any competitor is promoted to the next belt level before the Team Challenge that competitor lose their qualifying spot on Team USA. If for any reason the #1 ranked competitor of his respected division is promoted, injured, or unavailable to represent Team USA in the Team Challenge Tournament the # 2 ranked competitor will take his place. Conversely, if something happens to the # 2 ranked competitor, the # 3 ranked competitor will take his place.. There will no open weight classes for this tournament.

OTHER INFORMATION
Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age / weight / belt). WEIGH - INS
Weigh in will be on November 1st only. Weigh in will take place at the Hawthorne Memorial Center. Competitors must bring their IDs or some other documented identification, such as state i.d. card, state driver’s license, etc. Competitors can weigh in without their Gi.
Before each fight, competitors will be asked to show their IDs to the officials. Make sure you have it on hand.

Rooster: up to 121.50 lbs
Super Feather: 121.51 lbs - 134.50 lbs
Feather: 134.51 lbs - 148.00 lbs
Light: 148.01 lbs - 161.00 lbs
Middle: 161.01 lbs - 174.50 lbs
Medium Heavy: 174.51 lbs - 187.50 lbs
Heavy: 187.51 lbs - 201.00 lbs
Super Heavy: 201.01 lbs - 214.00 lbs
Super Super Heavy: over 214.00 lbs
Open Class: open weight class

WOMEN
Light: up to 123.50 lbs
Middle: 123.51 lbs - 146.00 lbs
Heavy: over 146.00 lbs

REGISTRATION FEE
Internet Registration = $60.00 or $80 for both days. To be paid during weigh in.

If there are any kind of changes and/or corrections made to a registration form causing a competitor to be placed in a different weight or belt division, they will be assessed an additional $20.00 charge the day of weigh ins. (No Exceptions)
Same Day Registration At Door = $100.00 each day.
