Training Mats

I have a 3 x 3 metre area in my garage that I want to use for groundwork, all of the martial arts mats available are quite expensive, has anyone found a cheaper solution or used different materials to make the area padded?

Look and keep looking to find some good used mats.

Sometimes high schools will just about give away their wrestling mats for free.
