I've heard that the bulk of it can be learned in 20 hours by a capable individual. Some silat-type dives, some Muay Thai-like covers and quite a bit of basic elbows and knees. That's heresay--albeit from a decent chap--and basically all I know.

Most Krav Maga "training centers" very closely resemble a boxing gym or thai academy. Rope jumping, hitting pads full force, full-contact sparring etc.
Almost all teach very intensive and reality based self-defense skills along with fighting skills.
