I heard that fight with "The World's Strongest Man" was a worked fight.

Let's not forget a basic point here... if you are a world-class bodybuilder (get ready for the generalization).. chances are you are on steroids. (Yeah, sure, no pro bodybuilders use steroids, that's why when they have "natural" competitions, the guys look semi-human.)
If you are juicing, your endurance goes way down. (i'm just waiting for Ober to blast me on some of these). I did see Lance Bachelor fight Pedro Sauer. That would be a good example, I think. |

Gents,
This is a rather silly thread, but here I am replying anyway. Obviously size and strength matters, or there wouldnt be weight catagories. But I think that any of the powerlifters or bodybuilders would get schooled by the big well trained wrestlers. I am sure Kerr, Coleman, Couture, Erikson... would love to fight some of these musclebound guys. The wrestlers could be somewhat smaller, but their years of training would let them toy with the bodybuilders. I am surprised that people give much serious thought to this. Mr. Kerr, would you rather fight Magnus Larsson, or Tom Erikson?! WTF do you think Kerr would say? Go figure!!! E |

There was a "Worlds Strongest Man" competitor in a Pride I have that was matched against a large Japanese opponent that looked out of shape. The Dutchman was bald and had good striking skills and said he was confident with his
grappling because he couldnt be out-muscled. He threw a good high kick but missed. He was taken down and keylocked in moments and he tapped before his arm bent! Neither one looked good. The Dutchman may have been much stronger but the other guy had more experience and skill. |

Zeke
"My brother told me that he saw an article in National Geographic this year about athletics and the artilce mentioned that all the lifters on this year's Olympic team could dunk a basketball." Some of those guys that compete in the lower weight classes are literally under 5 feet tall. That would be quite a feat. Evilution "The powerlifters can also sprint faster than the fastest sprinters and jump higher than the best high jumpers." Are you honestly saying that Olypmic Powerlifters are a threat in the 100 Meter Dash and the High Jump at the Olypmic level? |

He made a big mistake. It's Olympic Lifters, not Powerlifters. There's a big difference between the two and especially the lifts they do. Yes, Olympic lifters do have some of the highest verticals in the world, as well as some pretty fast sprint times.
