and yes, i know that telling a grappler not to grapple is pointless, and one should play to their strengths, but i still think you should stay off the ground whenever possible. even the best grapplers know that it's stupid to go straight to the ground. rickson gracie said that if he was faced with a weapon or multiple opponents, he'd either use his .45 or run. real life is not a game or a match, and that's why bjj is #1 for matches but leaves a lot to be desired for self defense. ryan |

well, ok. i may have gone a bit overboard, but seriously. i still think your friend was dumb for doing what he did, and a 16 year old saying he'd like to whoop ass on a mugger with a gun rather than trying to disengage first? sounds like one of those wishy washy dreams where you defeat an entire gang of murderous ex-cons with an incredible display of bone shattering martial arts prowess.
you are certain that someone would shoot you if you ran and that there's no way to escape from a multiple attacker situation? if you had as much experience as you claim, you would not be asking questions like this one, and you would never have questioned what a knife can do to ruin someone's day. don't exaggerate your accomplishments, knowledge, experience, etc. try to be serious in the future, and people will take you more seriously. |

How often would you say a guy who picks a fight with you on the street would know how to tackle properly?
I mean, they would know how to tackle just from watching football games, but tackling for fighting is a bit different cause the opponent is trying to kill you. They may be able to get you on the ground, but not keep you pinned. |

I cant help but notice you use the words "the blacks" as most people would use unsavory character or villian. Is the attackers race important to your story or to you? Doing my part to stamp out hillbilly-ism, Mike

What type of fighting to you consider as "grappling" in your opinion? Just joint locks like Aikido/Hapkido or ground fighting like BJJ? |

Hi,
I was looking at the picture, but I was wondering is it usefull? and who is the defender? if it's the one with the blue shirt he has one hell of a problem that way? The man with the black shirt can give one hell of a knee right between the opponent ribs or even face. If the man with the black shirt is the defender he has a problem as well. The man in the blue shirt can just give a hard punch in the groins of the man with the blackshirt. However, I am aware when we are not talking about defending on the street but just "ring" fight it's a different story Or am i wrong? ![]() Looking forward to your comments Bye ~BlackSnow~ |
