Thanks for the reply dave,
Unlike many people, i dont like evenly balanced matches of similar styles, as i find them too predicatable, and they usually cancel each other out. What i like is "contrast". Seeing how two different diciplines compare. EG, A blackbelt 5th dan thats been dedicated for 25 years suddenly finds out the hard way that he's not as good as he thought he was ? Strikers v grappelers etc etc I dont much like some of the pride/similar videos because of this. I also prefer bare knuckle (no gloves). How many fights are on these tapes? Are they a worth while investment??? How do you compare them to other videos you have seen ? |

I would say they are a great investment, but then I have a bias in favor of the Gracie Academy.

You wouldn't be making fun of him, would you Spanky?
I've been meditating since reading his announcement to mentally prepare myself for his golden truths and gems of wisdom.

Mock? Me???
I've never been so insulted since last Tuesday! Oh, I sense the game afoot. Subterfuge and subtlety. Meditation is indeed your salvation, oh young one. |

what I object to is the type of people who use the forums (various MA forums) to shove banners and blatently market their sites.
I notice that there is 'proper paying' advertising on Defend.net hence the legit banners at the top of each page. At the end of the day, those that feel the need to go into some advertising campaign should contact the site owners rather than launch their own pseudo campaign within each of their 'posts', whats so wrong with not liking that approach?? Szczepankiewicz, whats up?, are you threatened by something boy?, ah, I forgot, there is a link in every one of your signatures, what, not enough visitors to your site? Lastly, I dont teach the general public and therefore do not have the need for any website, I specifically teach federal & law enforcement depts, by demand and on a freelance basis as this is not my main job, so whats wrong with having a go at what I consider to be 'Overly Commercial Types', in case you didnt realise it, there are a lot of fake, second rate so called 'Dojos' out there & yes I will have a go at the types of 'business people' that I come across from time to time. If you dont like it then, well, up yer adolescent ass babe. |

Just wondering, but how can you verify that you teach "federal & law enforcement depts." What's your post count again? I can't remember if it's in double digits or not. Learn to take some humor, and don't announce that you will be posting your ideas on other threads like it is some issue of interglactic importance that none should miss unless you are ready for people to have a litttle fun with it

ryanhall,
thanks for your reply, perhaps you can let me know why or for what purpose a post count is important, i have only recently come across this site and simply thought I would try and contribute something, and i certainly do NOT think that the entire solar system thinks of my ramblings as so very important, not sure where you are coming from on this but YES, when i see overly commercial people (imho) using forums to pitch their wares under the giuse of contributing, then yes i will have a go at them, I really dont see this as being so terribly wrong. BriThai, in which case I apologise, I am not an offensive type of guy, but do get irritated at the above mentioned type of people as I believe that the MA should be taught for 1) the right reasons 2) not for overly commercial gains 3) not to encourage young people to be violent 4) not to pitch websites which often have pop ups et al, just to get people there for advertising revenue, The list probably goes on and on but thats all i have to say on the matter, if people do not want me to post then just let me know and i will not continue doing so, the last thing i want is to waste folks time, including the time I personally spend writing my occasional views. thanks for your replies. bye for now |

My comment had nothing to do with the quality of your posts, just that it's usually a good idea for a newbie to wait a while before attacking people who have been on a forum for a long time. It is equally uncool to make references to other forums and how much you can't stand what some person (SharpPhil in this case) is doing there. I like Phil's page because it's funny, and his guides to trolls, virtual tough guys, and so on are right on point. The fact that nobody else is complaining should be enough of a reason to endure the pain if that's what ads/links cause you. I'm sure that either Phil or Spanky would remove said links if a lot of people complained about them. Also, you'll notice that there is a place for homepage links in the profiles, so I don't see a problem with putting them in a signature. Just my opinion.

ryan,
I certainly stand corrected. i didn't know of any 'forum etiquitte' as i have not been a poster/contributor to forums before. i understand what you mean about someone new not having a dig at someone that has been on a forum for a long time and I certainly didn't realize that it was bad to mention other forums. However my original point about someone placing sizeable banners in posts still stands and if viewing these banners actually makes for a better forum then so be it but i am a commercially aware person and simply do not like to see 'pseudo contributions' where there is ulterior motive just to advertise and therefore stick to my original rantings on that subject but do appreciate you pointing out these things to me. Finally, i dont browse a forum or contribute to one just for recognition or popularity and if anyone wants to be offensive then I will retaliate (if I can be bothered). once again ryan, thks for pointing out the above. |
