Just when I thought it was all over and Dave, Master of the English Language, had won, I took a look at my WWBTD (What Would Bri Thai Do) braclet and it gave me new hope.

"Just becouse there is no JJJ/BJJ school in the area doesnt mean that someone isn't skilled on the ground." - Yes it does, against a good wrestler in a street fight I get to keep his arm. In the past I have done lots of grappling matches on concrete & worked from the guard with people that really didn't like me all that much. 90% of the human population is larger than me as well. And guess what the submissions came real quick. Same with the sweeps. Training properly keeps things the way they should be. (To the submission grapplers advantage)

Szczepankiewicz,
I tried this new-fnagled "cut-n-paste" thing - it works! I can't speak for bikers in the good ol' USA, but the bikies here in Australia all train in martial arts. Some clubs you walk into are wall to wall bandanas and beards. Perhaps if Dave3006 took a trip over here to Perth, Western Australia, he could really test his 5 second submission theory. The BJJ instructor that comes to my club as a guest teacher said that the minimum opponent one should train to come up against on the street is a "blue belt BJJ / amateur MT fighter over 200 pounds". I think its a big mistake to assume anyone who wants to lay the smackdown on you is untrained and probably drunk. Hell, my wife could beat that guy (and frequently does). |

Ya you guys have hit the nail on the head. Anyone that choses to fight you has proberley had some experiemce already. I love grappling, but I would still definitley run away or if I didnt, go for the old kick in the groin region, then run away.
