..... you have no idea about this style. Good guesses from a lot of people though. Remember, I am a white belt in this art, with about 12 months consistant training and about 18 months of martial training ( strike style behind that ) I can not really answer what is guard because I am a white belt but I will tell you what my interpretation of it was in a real situation. When I was taken to the floor I had my legs wrapped around his torso in what I have been told is a closed guard. I pulled him using my hips and gravity holding his arms closer to the floor, trying all the time to keep my body and his as close as possible together. I had my arm wrapped around his right arm keeping it as close to my body as I could and also had hold of his left sleeve keeping that as close to my body as I could, in the mean time he was trying to punch as effectively as he could. Because of his strength I had to constantly reajust my body position and his body position in order to maintain this position. When he brought his body position up I had to follow him up and down in order to conserve sregth, when he tried brute stength to beat me I had to ( unaturally ) follow his flow and then maintain my advantage of the previose position, ( if that makes sense ) I could tell it was ennoying him that he could not punch me, using all his stength he raised up, at which point I went to open guard, knee across his chest, and pulled him back into closed guard, at which point the bouncers intervened. Sorry about my spelling..

Dude I'm not trying to clown you but after a year in a "Real BJJ School" you WILL KNOW the guard pretty good. Thats a fact! Maybe your bjj instructor is holding back or something. You ought to check other schools. The guard is one of the first and in some schools the first position you learn. Sorry bro

I understand completely. But if you want to learn some bjj technique to enhance your training in your country go to:
http://www.jenbjj.com/ He has a training association that is dedicated to training assistance. I was his student for a few years at his school in San Jose, Ca. and I know that he is willing to help anybody. Its worth checking out!
