Fist Left or Right???

I am wondering becuase I am right handed and left footed, which leg should I have forward? usually (because of instructor) I have my left leg forward. Does this make any difference? Should I stand with my right leg forward? but then I would be using my right to jab?

Any suggestions?

Right handed and left footed? There are not many of us about. I have only met one other person like us.

Personally I think you should train both sides forward. If you're only in it for sport it will confuse your opponent (Marvellous Marvin Hagler used to switch stances). If you're in it for self defence you don't always know from where the attack will come from.

I must admit, though, I am stronger with the left foot forwards.

I'm right handed and I put my right hand forward not in the back. I guess its just a matter of what hand you feel comfortable with. I like to have my power all up front so its fast and I can hit with my power jab.

I would force myself to use all arms and legs equally when fighting. If I was in your situation I would force my right foot to be as strong as my left and my left hand to be as strong as my right. I know, easier said than done. But I was, about two years ago, in the same situation you are in. I am just begining to have all my limbs equally cooridinated while fighting, or training.

Its my personal belief that in fighting your arms and legs should be able to be used without prejudice towards or against a certain side, you can't always predict what situation you could get in, or what direction an attack may come from. I forced myself to do this and I am now enjoying the benefits, (especially while sparring).

St. Bruce said strong side forward...

Works for me because I tend to trap right-handed, and being right-handed, an orthodox (left side forward) lead requires some imaginative footwork to transition to trapping range.
