If you're looking to learn strictly self defense, I would pick aikido over Judo. I'm not sure what pai lum tao is.

I'd go with Tai Chi instead of these three.

pai lum tao is like kempo, with other useful systems in corporated in it, like JKD.http://www.pailum.com

Naw, but one of my peers in training has. Aikido has awesome footwork and flow, but to me, inefficient grappling methods, and no strikes.

Aikido for aikido is great, but not aikido for self defense, unless it's mixed with another art. But then, it wouldn't be Aikido anymore, would it?

actually i take that back. PLT is unique and you can study judo in many places i would go with PLT
sounds like a BLT thinking about it makes me hungry.

Only a small difference between a cotton t shirt and a double weave judo gi.
