    Question Grappler's Quest

Anyone here going to enter Grappler's Quest on March 29th in NJ? I've been throwing it around in my head.

    Cool

    Here’s the address.

I’ve never entered a contest before either but they have experience divisions/ weight divisions, so you should be pared up with someone close to your ability and size. Besides, the guys I work out with keep telling me that the hardest part is getting your ass out on the mat. That in itself is a victory.

Let me know if your going, maybe afterwards, we can grab some brews.

sorry for taking so long to get back to you, I just found out that I have to go to some stupid ass meeting for work that weekend. So im still not sure I can make it. Are you going to compete? Are you going to train any differently then you normally do? What division are you going to be fighting in.

    Thumbs up

I'll be in the heavy wt. novice devision. Two other guys that I work out with are entering it too. One in the same division as me and the other in the 170 novice or right around that weight. As far as training, we do live take downs for 4min. nonstop, then switch partners three times for a total of 16 min. of take down drills. Then we go over teq. for a half hour and drill a little so we get to try the moves live. Then we have "open matt" where we roll with whoever until someone submits. I think were changing it to ten min. rounds though. My instructer figures that you don't use as much engery in practace as you would in a tournment therefore a ten min. round in practace would equal a 4 min. round in compotition. Sorry for the grammer, I'm kinda in a hurry. Let me know if your going though.

    Default Grappler's Quest

FB - where are you located? I am thinking of getting involved in the Grappler's Quest, but I don't think I'm quite ready. I'm gonna have to probably wait until the next one, whenever that is. I am from New Jersey and plan to watch the next one. I would be in the HW novice div. as well (or SHWT).....

So who do you train with? Is it a BJJ school or something more MMA?

For the most part the place is a Karate school (WKU) but we use it three times a week. I don't really know to much about BJJ (the history and what Gracie my instructer's instructer was trained under, though I think its Hoyle (sp?) something like that).
    And you?
