Default Shaolin Warriors

Well just got back from the show Shaolin Warriors and have to say it was ver awe inspiring and god dam awesome. They showed animal styles including, monkey, tiger, dragon, snake, crane, and this guy behind me who was a chinese master he said that one style was the frog? sure did look like a frog anyway.

They used weapons; shield and sword, 3 section staff, staff, spear, whip and a whip with pointed tip, and some more too.

They got one guy to lie on razor sharp swords then put a plank of nails on him then put another guy on the plank of nails who had a slab of concrete put on him and then another monk smashed the slab of concrete on the guy and they all got up and kept going.

SO did anyone else go see them?

But I do remembeer being very impressed. I don't know if I could make that work in the street but those guys heck even the little kids could handle themselves just about anywhere.

only dissapointing thing about those demo's is once you learn how they do that bed of nails thing, it ruins the magic

They are impressive, but too much physics is used and contributed to super human conditioning.

Laying on swords if physics, Same with nails, and smashing cinderblocks on the stomach, Cutting watermellons off the stomach. Walking on hot coals. Putting you hands into boiling lead, Etc.

But they do put on a good show.

i tried fire walking once....it hurt lol, accualy it was pretty cool, me and my friends kind of did a ghetto job putting it together...but it was still a realy amazing feeling.

one thing i find kind of strange about those shaolin monk shows is they seem to be prostituting there culture and turning it into some carnival side show. The stuff they do is impresive, and its cool to get to see it outside of china, but it just seems cheap and touristy to me.

I live in New Zealand south Island christchurch. They only had one show in the south island so I was making sure I definitley went to it.

The forms and that were very impressive even the acrobatics like flips and that was crazy the stuff they could pull off. They were also snapping sticks over there ehads and arms. I loved the multiple attackers show they put on 3 guys surrounded in the middle and the rest fo the monks around them, was dam awesome watching them fight it out. There art may not be street worthy but I tell you now they are very very fast, lightining speed when they execute there forms and attacks.

Yes there was one little kid and he was amazing, he was standing in eagle stance on this pole that was off the ground quite far standing on one foot for like 10 minutes, the kid was also doing flips and was very precise and accurate in his forms. Ya have to realise the kid looked about 8 or soemthign and he was awesome.

These guys would know how to kick some ass, but there grappling and groundwork would be there weakness as they do none of it I would imagine.

A beautiful culture they have, makes me want to be a Shaolin Monk

I don't know much about the shaolin kung fu, but I know I like watching the movies. Especially the animals, p.s. off topic anyone know how to load custom avatars?
