In one of the locations where we've trained, we put 3"x3" 3/4" plywood squares about 3' apart all over the tile floor, glued with "liquid nail", then screwed 4'x8' sheets of 3/4" plywood on top of those, then covered the whole deal with outdoor carpet. I don't know if it's a great idea for grappling, but it was perfect for the large amount of BIG throwing we do... and you have to fall well or learn to quickly...

i was very lucky mating out my gym as my mum worked in a primary school and they were replacing the gymnastic mats for new (they only had small holes at edges or marks) and are pretty good condition.
might be worth a try at a local school (try the care taker). |
