It's a much better idea than sticking around to chat with the guy.

1) Most people won't shoot at you if you run--that's how the police get them and they go to jail. They use the gun for intimidation purposes (and it works).
2) Most people are not mentally prepared to use a firearm on another human being (many are though, so watch it).
3) If you would like some info on how hard it can be to hit a moving target, ask a longtime hunter or soldier. It's not easy at all (and that is for people skilled with a firearm, not some dude who packs a nine and thinks he's really bad).

Sometimes the situation may dictate that you stay for one reason or another, but it's almost always safer to take off (in a safe manner that fits the situation--i.e. don't turn you back on a pissed knifer) when someone produces a weapon.

I disagree. You SHOULD ALWAYS just stand there and do whatever they tell you to do.

You will only get yourself hurt or killed if you try to resist a criminal. If you carry a weapon the criminal will only take it from you and use it against you.

The police will protect you.

How could I have been so wrong? Let's ban guns and make self-defense illegal. Weapons solve nothing, and it is the gun, not the moron(s) holding it/them that is the cause of most of our nation's problems. While we're at it, let's blame guns for violence in schools and global warming.

one time i was strapped and a cop stopped us, and it was in my pocket.. i was like "i'm going to prison for sure".. my homie had licence insurance.. everything.. so i didn't get sweated.. but they usually would pull both of us out the car and sweat us hard.. any thug at the shooting range first aint a real thug..

Just because you don't go to a shooting range does NOT mean you cannot shoot a gun. Out here we had Azusa canyon Lydle Creek and a host of other places we could just go out and shoot. My homies would shoot at anything...lizards, squirrels. birds...and the sons a bitches would would hit them. So don't give me that crap about thugs can't hit moving targets. NOW... moving targets shooting back at you--that's another story. How many people can shoot accurately while being shot at? Check this out, in New York 40 bullets were shot at a man holding a gun by NYPD. Only seven bullets hit him.. Hummm.. that' peculiar.

That's not the one I am talking about. This guy was standing in front of a bank with a gun in his hand. He refused to put the gun down when officers ordered him to- so they shot him forty times but only hit him seven. This was many years back-about ten. Thanx anyway for the 'meant well' correction though.

i dont know about zig zagging away and not getting shot.. i mean it makes you a harder target to hit but personally if someone ran away like that and i had intend id just spray bullets left to right.. you cant dodge a bullet coming at you ! if i were confronted with a gun id freaking bum rush the person and grab the gun if possible.. i dont know tho ive never been in that situation but who knows.. bum rushing might not be the best idea either.. haha
