You know, I'll occasionally have dreams like that, too, Lizard. EXACTLY like that. Except in mine... I'm always Kung-Fu fighting a fat guy for some reason. But I'm always slow and my punches and kicks never have much effect. I think it is a psychological thing... maybe it's something we fear or whatever. Although we've been well-trained, we have a sort of fear of losing or something. Could be deeper, but I'm not a psychiatrist/psychologist, so your guys' guess is as good as mine. But I used to have those dreams a lot. Haven't had one in a while. I like the Crocodile Dundee dream, too... funny-funny.

I had a wierd dream a while ago (I think it was from playing shenmue 2) anyway, I dreamt that someone in my family was getting married to a chinese guy, he came to our house and was in our kitchen, he claimed to be a martial arts master. He asked me to punch him, I did and he blocked it with his palm, everyone was clapping except me (I was the only one who knew that its easy to block a punch when you know it's coming) so I said something like "Well I know some martial arts too!" I tried to do a kick (might have been a spinny one) but I fell over and was embarrased. It all turned out ok in the end because I went to hong kong (which was exactly like the playground in my old school) and there were lots of children running around and wise tai chi masters who might have sparred with me. That took a while to write so I won't tell you about my kung fu film dream where I ended up kicking the bad guy down a wooden staircase (well actualy the stair case was like a spiral one but square and he fell down the middle for a while before he hit the stairs).

Some very funny dreams.
But they do indicate subconcious thoughts. Desires, frustrations, fears etc. To me it is quite clear, Lizard you have a very serious underlying problem, that requires urgent attention. A failure to address this issue will lead to severe consequences in the coming years. You are slowly metamorphing into a "karateka" !!! Like a chameleon changes it's appearance, you sure your a lizard not a chameleon? Ignore this advice at your peril ! By all means, seek a second opinion, The person who is best qualified to assist with this matter is a woman called Rita 1203. widely respected in the field of psych-babble ! You'll probably find her/him in the forum graveyard. Get well soon mate. |

I took a psychology class in college and part of it was on sleep and dreams. the class was team taught by experts and the dream expert used to come in class and had bed hair.
We used to always joke that the guy was doing research on himself. Here's what I remember from the class: You dream in real time, not accelerated time as was thought a while ago. As you dream, everything you dream about, happens as it would in real life, not like looking at a video and holding down the scan button. Your first hour of sleep is to heal your body, any illnesses or injuries. Then the rest of your sleep is to heal your mind. Any problems that are occuring during your waking time is dealt with. There's Freud's theories of the Ego, Id and Super Ego. But what we were taught is that there are the many stages of sleep, Rapid Eye Movement part of sleep, from this part, that is where dreams come into play. There are different brain waves, alpha, beta and I thiink delta. In the alpha state, this is where you are the most relaxed. If you read anything about Transcendental Meditation, you want to get into the alpha state for relaxation and to promote rest. Typically, you dream 5-7 dreams a night, depending on the amount of sleep you are getting. Most of these dreams are very boring or mundane tasks that you normally do in your daily life; driving to work, cleaning, eating or anything that is in your daily routine. If you train, that becomes incorporated as part of your routine. But, there is usually one dream that will be very bizarre and almost sci-fi in nature. That is the part where, if something is bothering you, your subconscious will try to heal itself. In the case of when you are running or fighting and you feel sluggish or slow, it's usually the fact that you have sheets and blankets on your hands, arms and legs. We only remember our dreams if we wake up during the dream. If the dream concludes, then we don't remember them. In college, I used to try to analyze my dreams and if I woke up and remembered my dream, I would immediately write down some facts about it, and in the morning read my notes and then I would remember the whole dream. After looking at certain clues in the dream, it would become clear why I was dreaming certain situations. At parties, ask people if they remember their dreams. Many people will insist, even to the point of heated arguments that they don't dream. It's funny the reactions you get. Another part of dreams is that the majority of people dream in black and white. How many of you dream in color? try to remember your last dream and think if there were any colors in it. From what I remember about my dreams, I do sometimes dream in color but not always. Dreams are fascinating looks into the depths of the subconscious.....

ok, I once remembered a dream, not really sure what happened. But it was something like this:
I thought I just got some type of present, and I woke up, and i actually thought I had it !!! But I remembered it was only a dream! *F*CK!* I hate that feeling. Do you ever get the dream where you are a millionaire, then you wake up, you want to sleep again !! |

I always dream in color. Yes I hate it when you have a problem, you dream you've solved it then you wake up and "Ah, that's that problem solved... no wait it was just a dream, oh ****!" Sometimes I realise I'm dreaming but I just go along with it anyway, or try to molest as many women as possible before I wake up. Oh yeah and if I ask someone in my dream if I'm dreaming, they always tell the truth. Ive had four dreams where I've been an alchoholic.

We agree again Tom Yum. Great minds think alike. Lizard, I take it all back you are not turning into a Karateka, you are turning into the dreaded Rita, better known as the bird-boy ! Seek help ASAP. Or else you'll soon find yourself sifting through librararies looking at akido books ! How to take on an army and win without getting a scratch. But look on the bright side, at least Rickson will make you up to a black belt apparently !
