Buying a heavy bag - UK

Hey,

if this is wrong place mods please move it, I looked through the forums but still wasnt sure!

Need advice if buying a heavy bag please. I don't know what % of people are here from teh Uk but i'm South London and want to know where I coudl get a heavy bag from ?

Ideally I want a freestanding thing as I have no where to hang a bag but they are tres expensive.

Would the best bet be to buy a big unfilled bag and fill it myself? :\

I'm not sure where I'm going ot put it yet. I might have to get a speed bag lol and work on my coordination. lol.

Well although a speed bag is good for co-ordination you can't compare it to a heavy bag. A heavy bag is good because it gives an idea of what you punches would do on a real person, its good for strengthening your wrists so they don't buckle, good excersise and also good to relieve stress. Get heavy bag first, then you can think about speed bags. My heavy bag is called bob.

I got a 70 pound bag and after only two weeks my jab-cross combination has gotten noticeably quicker. Get one.

I didn't used to be able to throw a full power punch without my hand/wrist hurting, then I bought a 60lb (apprx) bag and now I can punch full power all day long with no injury. GET A HEAVY BAG.

Bri Thai are you being sarcastic? I'm afraid I can't actualy tell. I once saw some adverts for "heavy bags" in argos, they ranged from 5kg to around 20kg. That's about 10lbs - 50lbs.

Yes. I am being sarcastic. But maybe I'm in the worng. After all, Argos are well known for their martial arts knowledge.

I want something I can kick llow as well, so I'm thinking of going for the standard 5 or 6 ft heavy punch bag. Funnily enough they're hte same price tho so I might just go for 6? I wanna condition my shins kicking it.

How hard are these things to ugh transport. lolo. I mite b a bastard and want to take myne to uni (lol).
