I started martial arts like 14 years ago, and I made the mistake of stopping all training due to an injury twice, and both times I ended up worse-off than if I'd kept training. Now, if I have an injury, I keep training, but adjust around it. E.g. I had jaw surgery, so I stopped BJJ for a while, but kept up with karate but no sparring.

A normal week for me is 3 BJJ classes (2 are 1.25 hours, one is 2.5 hours), 2 or 3 1-hour karate classes, teaching (and participating a little) a 1-hour karate class, 2 sessions at the gym (some cardio and some weights at each session, try to hit all parts of the body once per week), 1 2-hour muay thai conditioning class, random situps while watching telly at night, and 1 morning of surfing.

Hm, I just read that and realise I am a maniac.

That's actually a really good schedule; nothing wrong with sincere dedication to your training.

I train 2-3 times a week. Usually its one sparring session for an hour with drills. The other times, I usually work the bag, skip rope, lift and run.

Sunday= Arms
Monday=Back and shoulders
Tuesday=Chest and abs
Wednesday=Legs
Thursday=Arms and abs
Saturday=Legs and abs

I train my abs with weight's 3 times a week but also do a abs workout with no weights everyday.
It's just the way I want to do it.

With my weight training I do Max OT (Maximum Overload Training).
It cut's out the fatigue.

I spar 5 times a week. Grapple 2 some times 4.

I really love training like this. I get results efficiently and fast.

Son, you need to rest for 1 day per week
workout 6, rest 1
its what they say is better for da health and recovery

I havent trained its been... like one year and a half i think... i dont remember
I train when i feel like, why should i train when i dont feel like it
Its not like im gonna die by stop training anyway
Mostly i enjoy sparring, the whole exercise thing done in the classes is just annoying. Id prefer if one would just warm up, drill then spar. The whole conditioning thing sux, i dont like it.

Hey Cakegirl, try watching your TV while sitting in a horse stance, screw chairs. Then challenge your boyfriends to a pain contest

Nah, I've got dodgy knees, so I pass on ALL the horsestance challenges.

Plus, in my house, if you stay in the one place too long watching TV, the guy I live with will choke you out. Seriously, he's a BJJ nut, and practices stealth attacks at home.

I dance as well, and I guess that should count in my "exercise regimen" above, although I don't think of it as exercise - it's just fun!

I train because not only is it fun as shit, but I sincerely love it. I'm hoping one day to open up my own gym for functional strength (filled with thick bars, stone pits, loaded barrels and kegs, a Conan's wheel, farmers walking area, climbing wall, with a boxing ring and a bag area) and possibly teach martial arts out of there and get other martial artists to teach there as well.

I'm a workout junkie, so my schedule is pretty full. I run three times a week (swim during the warmer months), weightlifting 3x a week, bagwork and the like 3x a week, spar when I can, do strongman stuff, go to my ninjutsu class anywhere from 2-4 times a week, hit up the boxing gym 3-4 times a week, and I'm even diseased enough to exercise while watching TV. Add to that a full 14 credits for college and a part-time job as well as trying to maintain a social life by going out on the weekends looking for a willing sexual partner, it's a busy week indeed

Wall chairs aren't as bad for your knees, as you also get some back support out of them. You can give those a shot.

You're the guy that gets busted at the gym when the ladies are around and doesn't care...lol.

What are your running routines like?

I like to switch it up, sometimes I'll just go for 30 minutes and be fine with it, other times I'll set up a 3-mile course and try to beat it in under 18 minutes. Sometimes I'll throw sprints in with the running, or even do a Floyd Patterson and just aim for a certain step count (gets tedious counting but it's different). My favorite thing to do on the weekends is drive down to the lake and run around it.

Drop a dumbbell on your foot trying to impress a lady who just barely fits in her Spandex tends to tell you to focus more on training and less on the T&A. That's what MTV is for, anyways
