Default Side or 3/4 Stance?

Which is more practical? The side stance seems difficult, because it exposes my side, so I have to worry about my ribs, but the 3/4 one exposes my body...

Default

I prefer the 3/4 stance, I think it allows more powerful kicks and it's easier to punch. But you can't do good front leg side kicks from the 3/4 stance. And it does expose more of the body.

But the side stance exposes your back more.

Well, I usually hook step to side kick when I'm in a 3/4.
