I grew up in a multicultural environment where segregation was continuously clashing, so fighting was inevitable if you were in the wrong place. Most of the time, you could run away or just walk away, but not always.
Now that I'm married and have a child, I wouldn't think of fighting unless it was for the sake of my family. Truthfully, fighting is not good for anyone.

Firstoff, I don't count. Second, Great Sage is corrrect--fighting is best avoided. If you win, you probably hurt the other guy (provided that your 'fight' wasn't some juvenile pissing match). If you lose, you can be badly hurt or killed if you're unlucky. Life isn't a movie, and no martial arts style will make you knife- or punch-proof. The numbers are against you. Something bad will happen eventually.

If you mean competing, I try to do at least three competitions per year. Usually two of those are MMA, and one is grappling. As far as full contact fighting, we have a tendency for the advanced students in our gym to fight full contact (or very close to that) with no head shots once every two weeks. Two weeks tends to be enough time to let the bruises heal and to learn and use new techniques that arise as an answer to any flaws that others viewed in your fighting style during the fight.

What do you mean, streetfights? There are way too many guns and psychos out there to go around getting in those kinds of fights. To add to that, if you can't prove that your force, or even your reason for fighting was reasonable, you're facing a criminal charge.

Well i am sparring 5 times weekly.
Fight in about 8 tournaments and organised fights. And fight for self-defence. Personally it don't like herting. But fight is a challange and that is why I never miss the oppertunity. |
