Arrow Traditional or MMA

I'd like to know where I shut focus my training. Should I go deep into Kung Fu or into MMA. I know that since this is a MMA forum the response is gonna be geared towards MMA, but I just need help on the matter.

Hey man, only you can answer that question.

Think about what you really enjoy doing the most. Think about your accomplishments in both. Imagine what you will be doing in either 5 years from now. Take time to think about it and then follow through with your decision. You know what's good for you.

Unless, of course, you are female, then I retract my smart assed statement.

Tom is correct!

You need to establish your goals THEN compare different martial arts styles (or combinations thereof) and THEN you can make a better informed solution.

I suggest you study my style, as it is superior to all other styles.

Nah...I'm male....Rape Defense was a joke, but it would probably be effective complimentary with some mace and a rape whistle....oh and a really really good lawyer. I'm trying both out right now, gung fu and BJJ, and I like both about equal, I dunno the reason I like Gung Fu is because it isn't as linear as Karate or TKD, or even MT, and the reason I like BJJ is because it gives the chance to innovate while on the ground and its pretty fun...I'm so confused, I might just create my own style

why would you take classes in rape defense anyways. how hard is it to kick someone in the balls or spray mace in their eyes. then runaway screaming rape.

no-one but you can aswer this question, I would say that which is eastiest to you needs the least attention

I would focus on where I learn the most, lateron this might switch again, so if your focus isn't competition outside the gym the first year you could focus on BJJ because that can make you a reasonable fighter and it teaches you a lot in a short time
Then you might switch to gung fu because they also teach a lot but over a much longer period

Another way of deciding is what kid of fighter you are, do you like to go to the ground or do you prefer to keep standing up if at all possible

There is no stlye called "gong fu" that is just a general name given to chinese martial arts.

3 questions that you must ask yourself:

What do you want?
What martial arts are availabe?
Do any of them help you to get what you want?

I once saw a failed robbery attempt outside A'dam CS late at night. I was about 100 M away. One teenage Moroccan kid distracted this lady while the other one tried to grab her purse. The kid that grabbed her bag got arm wrenched and hair pulled to where he was bending over. The kid and the lady were about the same size and she gave him a mouthfull of Dutch curse words then tossed him into the pavement. You guys don't put up with sh!t but you're sooo laid back and friendly - good traits, you're like Bully Venus Flytraps

I also witnessed some famous (or infamous) Dutch bouncer work at "The Bull Dog." Those bouncers don't give a f@ck about beating anyone who gets out of hand senslessly, then the police come, one of the officers is about 6'3" and rock solid 220 with an ear ring and green hair...cool, lol.

My friends say that most bouncers are usually highly trained in styles like judo, chakuriki and jiujitsu and are backed by the 'underworld' which is why they can use self-defense to pummel and choke a miscreant into unconsciousness.

My advice was good. Here it is again (now with added numbers and examples) for those of you too lazy to find it:

3 questions that you must ask yourself:

1)What do you want?
2)What martial arts are availabe?
3)Do any of them help you to get what you want?

Example

1)I want to learn high kicks
2)There is TKD and karate available in my area
3)TKD focuses on kicks and has lots of high kicks, Karate has some high kicks but focuses more on the hands
So I should do TKD, now I will go to the school and see whether or not I like it, if not then I could always have a look at the karate place. Thanks for the great advice lizard.

But now I remember that silverwolf has left or something. May as well post it anyway, perhaps it will help someone else.
