Default Who can beat the most normals

Out of all the great martial artists who ever lived, who do you think can take down the most normal untrained people in a single fight? And how many? Assume average 5'9" 160 pound people who are in reasonably good shape but without martial arts training.

For example, if Bruce Lee or Mike Tyson fought a crowd of 100 people, obviously they would be overwhelmed and killed. However if they fought only 3 people, they should easily win. How many people is the most that a great martial artist could beat?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I'd like the opinion of real martial artists.

A 1000 agents smit, so 1000x the same

gun-do fighter can handle the most

no seriously, how the heck can we tell this
Peronally I think most MA will have difficulties handeling a co-ordinated attack of more than 1 let alone 3 or 4
the only way to survive is sepreating them so the attack is no longr co-ordinated

I think you've missed the most important point. It is not size so much as running speed that is important in this situation.

Ditto with Grape Ape.

Running is not only good for cardio, but it helps you get away when you need to.

Sorry, I know this is a dumb question.

I'm just trying to understand what the ultimate limits of martial arts would be. I realize this would be nothing more than an educated guess, but I'm just curious.

From my uneducated viewpoint, Mike Tyson or Bruce Lee or any other great martial artist in their prime could annihilate one untrained attacker and probably could kill 2-3 untrained attackers. They would get overwhelmed by 20 attackers. So somewhere between 3 and 20 untrained attackers is the probably the practical limit of what a supremely trained, tough and powerful human can beat.

This is nothing more than curiosity on my part. I've never taken anything more than basic karate, so I admit that I know nothing about the subject. I was hoping for a more informed opinion by people who have taken MA for years.

Do the untrained attackers attack all at once?

Or do they circle around and taunt the person in the middle while they attack one at a time?

They coordinate to the best of their untrained ability. If they attacked one at a time, I think Tyson could beat 100.

I believe the rule was one empty handed monk could handle 10 AVERAGE men, and with his cudgel 100. apparently we all suck today. i believe this was tested in the 70's and it came out about 10 since thats all that can get to one man without being in each others way. Even 5 on one is a tight fit try it some time.

Perhaps a better question would be which art would best prepare you to fight multiple opponents...

dumb, its hard to beat 2 guys, or 3 when they all attack at the same time.
But if I was cornered in a crowded bar brawl, I think following behind Mike Tyson would be a clear path outta there. Bruce Lee would have his hands full with any normal Joe, let alone multiple Joes.

One trained fighter could EASILY take 10-15 untrained attackers or more.

First, he gets up on top of a hill in the middle of a field
second, he digs a hole and piles some sandbags
third, he loads his rifle and piles additional clips at his feet.
fourth, He shoots whoever proposed this silliness in the first place,
fifth, everybody goes home.

I think Samson in the Bible took out like over a thousand dudes.

There are a few variables to consider.... environment and access to a mini-gun.

For those of you heathens that never read the bible;

Samson was a bad dude with that mini-gun, mine...
and he bottlenecked them fools in between a hallway, yo.

I believe the term fighting implies that other guy is non-cooperative therefore fighting is never easy, so multiple attackers make it tougher especially if you have chosen a style of fighting that prefers to go to the ground. at least if you have a stand up ability there is the option of a advance to the rear in technical terms. after all the mini-gun's in the trunk right?
