Default Which BJJ Uniform!!?

Hey Guys!

I need a uniform for BJJ fast! I have never grappled in a kimono or gi before, so any advice would be helpful. Basically, I need a thicker uniform that’s not gonna cost me an arm and leg (I’m only doing this for the summer). Anyone have any suggestions or know of any places?

Your help is appreciated,
Great Sage

Howard Combat Kimonos!

Spendy, but well worth the price me thinks.

Make sure to get a rash guard. You'll thank me later!

if you are only doing it for a summer you might want to get an unbleached gi. Its cheaper. Its coffee stain color instead of white.
I fight in a Lion Gi but have three including one unbleached from my early days. The Lion is the best quality one however. Just about any judo gi will last you a summer, just get the cheapest. I also cut and hem the sleeves to cheat against a lot of pulling from your opponent.

Are you allowed to wear Rash vests?
Pesonally I like them. Cheap and can be pick up from any surf shop. A lot of grapplers use them.
Look arround for them.

HCK un bleached is a great Cheap Gi... Many people at my school have had them for a while and they still look great...

My white one also has lasted me over a year of washes... Always hang dry your jacket

My HSU gi has served me well for judo. I assume you can use judo gis for BJJ. It's cheap and durable especially for only 3 months. Rash guards? What are you? Little girls.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I decided to go with Krugans Tribal Kimono... I like the patchwork. Although, I've heard the best uniforms are either Gameness or Howard... Take your pick. I would have loved to get a Howard, but they're very pricey and take a long time to deliver.... Perhaps in the near future.

Great Sage,

Hey buddy, how about a review on your Krugans Tribal? How much did you get it for? Does the pants really hold up like how they say it does? I have an HCK single and my pants sucks, keeps on coming untied. Thanks.

I bought my Krugans Tribal directly from their website. I got it in 2 days! It's great! I like the patchwork. I was told the collar was a little thinner than HCK, but you can hardly tell. The pants are a great fit. They stay on better than the Atama pants I own.

A brand new HCK is quite nice too. I wore a friends for a few practices and it felt great. I'm interested in "Gameness" because I've heard so many good things about their Kimonos. It's good to have at least two pair of kimonos for days when you don't feel like washing your gi. You do wash your gi right?

Hey Sage... is the Krugans Tribal a double weave? And how is the stretchiness factor?

BTW If you could put up a link to the Krugan's page that would be great.

I wear a machado, as do alot of the Pedro Sauer guys. They are pretty nice.

I have a Hybrid, and I am looking into getting a summer weave.

BJJ Gis/kimonos seem so much more expensive in the UK!
