I was wondering what everyone here liked to turn on when they're in the mood for music. I have to say, I'm a music lover, so the follower is just a list of music I've become real accustomed to. If it was up to me, I'd like to know more about every single kind of music that doesn't suck, but I'm doing the best I can right now with the music I know.

First the foremost, I grew up listening to rap. I was beggining to lose interest in it but then I discovered the Hip Hop culture at around my 9th grade year and never lost interest in it again. However, I believe that mainstream rap is some of the worst music ever put out. I have more respect for the Backstreet Boys then DMX, because at least what they do would take some talent. I like groups like the Roots, Visionaries, Hieroglyphics, Company Flow, Black Star etc. Most people that are fimiliar with Hip Hop would know what else I liked.

My other favorite kind of music that seems like it may take over Hip Hop is classic Rock. I like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Jefferson Airplane [can't you tell by my handle?] etc. My favorite band of all time is Pink Floyd though, I guess smoking pot helps that, but hey, who cares? Great band, not the best musicians ever, but made music that definatly appeals to me. The band is different on every album, I really really like them. I also like Syd Barrett [the band's original leader] a lot, it has to do probably with his insanity, but it didn't bother me. He always interested me.

So what kind of music is everyone in here into?

I agree with you Hookah, mainstream rap sucks ass. De La Soul, 2pac, Roots and rap before '98 is good. IT STINKS NOW, makes me ashamed! Techno is also what Im slowly getting into. At least that stuff isnt played on the radio as much.

Stupid wiener kids spoil it all.

I actually agree. The only time I ever listen to music is when I'm in my car.

I'm just getting into soft, filmic pop music like Moloko and the greatest pop band of all times, Saint Etienne. I also love Ladytron's new single, Playgirl. I love dark rock music like nirvana as well, but sometimes you want to get UP, not down.

If music is a waste of time then what isn't? Working? Why do you work? So you can earn money and enjoy yourself. Why do you listen to music, because its enjoyable. If you think a pleasurable activity is a waste of time you are either an idiot or you realize that every activity is a waste of time until our unevitable death. I pick the former for you guys. But I like Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Marilyn Manson, Aphex Twin, Refused, Nirvana, Weezer, The Doors, Sublime, Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals.

Black Sabbath, but sometimes you need something lighter. Too much of the heavy dark stuff can bring you down.

If you're training while you listen to music then how can that be considered wasting time?
