also note the range thought in that picture it is possible to come in with a jab. in my picture it would take more time cuzz the other guy has to bring up his head to find the kicker then move in to jab. by that time the kicker could be defending again

Well if he tried that on someone that does an art that is worth a crap then he wouldn't have to come up and find him to hit him. If he tried that on a person in another art all they would have to do to find him is look down on the floor. I pitty the TKD guy that tries that crap on me cuz I'll knock him clean out..........

For Ghost's pic.
Defenders Shin block converts to modified sidekick stomp to kickers knee career over.

Depending on power and ability the front kick to the groin and then the modified kick might be more fun.

Often between those techniques the hands drop.

Quick point.

Thai kick that misses will leave the back towards the attacker. Nice to close and vascular neck restraint to oblivion.

The original pic after further evaluation may be one of several techniques.

It would appear that it might have been a jump spin crescent though rather than a heel or hook kick. Moving backwards leaves you ready to be killed a ton of moves that it sets up such as a sweep, round kick, spin backfist, back kick. etc.

Moving in on it might end up having it turn into an Ax kick. Timing is key.

The guy should have his hands up though. Never drop your hands

The shotokan picture is staged. most likely not motion shots. Therefore you would have to keep the hip out to hold the kick in the air for the length of time needed to take the picture.

It's hard to tell much from pictures. The original pic was from a sparring match not for a full contact fight (most likely) therefore the technique is most likely somewhat controlled.

Yes, but I've also seen a guy miss a right round kick and carry the momentum into a left reverse spinning elbow and drop the guy as he tried to move in behind the kick. Nothing is certain.

It also leaves open the possiblity of a knee, teep, or round kick to the lower back while exsposed.

The guy should have his hands up though. Never drop your hands

Key.

William

exactly, a missed kick is a missed kick. They are not only a concern for TKD.

Yea, but a missed kick when you are not blocking is a knock out.

To Excessive force.

As far i know this is the best gaurd for someone throwing a head kick.

Any attack soemone makes will most likely leave them open to someform of counter attack.

I stated myslef that the groin was attackable when i posted my pic.

Of course the supporting leg is vulnerable, show me a head kick that isnt.

My point is that as far as i know this is the BEST way to do a head kick as it MINIMISES the availiable targets. It is not fool proof.

I mean its a head kick.

What do you want.

I know which way i would throw a head kick. It will never be the TKD way.

Yeah especially the teacher do it like that, they are those old dudes well 30 something and 5th dan and former european Katachamp (wuko style)
Problem is because the teacher does them like that, the student will do the same

BTW you are practicaly forced to do it this way when kicking from the deeprouted zenkutsu dachi (or go up and down all the time)
