A lot of times there is no offical system. You have to apply the technique properly in sparing. Just because you know how to escape the mount doesn't mean you can do it when actualy sparring. That kinda thing.

never see any grading system at any school i have trained at... They all basically work just use the belt system.. and when you are tapping blue belts at your school then your promoted to a blue belt. i have never seen any grading system as in some other martial arts where they say you must know all the names or set of certain techniques to advanced....
And basically your belt is just a rank to where you stand in your school.. if you want to know how good you really are go do a tournament and see how you do against other purple belts or whatever belt you are as people are going a 100% live and carido and nervousness, all play into it.. .so if you preform well and are tapping out purple belts than i would say you are a definitely purple belt level and know one can deny you that... if you are getting tapped by everyone that you are still at blue belt level even thought you have a purple belt in my opinion...
