For the benefit of the less intelligent among us, what logic do you base your answer on?

ghost you missed my point. Of course the horse guy would demolish tkd style. I stated that assuming the horse was stopped and the rider was preoccupied, then the tkd guy would have a good chance, because he would have the element of suprise.

This will be my last post concerning this issue, I don't think I could make myself any clearer.

Talking

Dude...this conversation is irrelevant because the TKD guy would lose to a 6th grade bully!!! LOL, TKD what a joke!!! My one legged grandma can kick the crap out of a TKD practitioner.

Default Double trouble.

Why would the horse be riding at 30mph?
You seem to have this image of an entire army of Koreans all unarmed with only their TKD skills against an army of Japanese horsemen?
Yeah I would like to see that, an entire army doing katas while getting a beating from armoured horsemen. No TKD was for use in other situations, for example if the enemy was occupying your village then its unlikley that they would spend all their time riding about at 30 mph unless they were all on speed (and their horses too).
Horseman vs Footman, horseman has all the advantages (height, reach) TKD would be pretty effective at unseating an armoured cavalryman (standing still, preferably while being distracted by your buddy) which is the only way you would stand a chance with no weapons.

Even if it was possible to use a high kick to get someone off a horse, it would still be easier just to pull them off by hand. Or you could even use a long sharp stick (I'm sure they had those in korea).

ummmm...... how high are you gunna have to jump to kick the guy on the horse? Keep in mind the horse is not gunna be standing still while the rider spray paints a target on his balls to show you where to kick. If it is moving, i doubt you can have the precise timing to kick him, even if you did, chances are your leg will get caught in something and the horse will drag you through a pile of syringe needles.

What do you do against a guy with a horse and lance?

TKD answer "Jumpkick the rider"

BJJ answer "Choke the horse"

Kali answer "Eat the Horse"

Muay Thai answer "What's a horse? we use elephants"

Lizard: so this horseman is just going to sit there while you walk up to him and pull him off his horse. Methinks he will cut your head off about 10 seconds after you lay hands on him.
Yes when my village is occupied with enemy soldiers the first thing i will do is go out roaming the streets with my 10 foot long spear hoping that the soldiers will think that its a fishing pole.

Mouse avatar person: Its only about 6 - 7 foot high.

Platinum Angel: who cares? not me but your mum probably did cause i had to write out this reply rather than giving it to her good like she needs.

Ps: i really dont care i dont take TKD and i dont even like it im just not one of those dicks who says "dur i dont do it, it must be crap".

I've always been sceptical about these types of claims......Jump kicks are to dismount a horseman......breaking techniques are so an unarmed man can punch through Samurai armour etc etc. Its just bollocks, a myth.

Must be that Korean horses like the koreans themself are smaller
they were probably ridding midget ponies

Come on people from the begining TKD has been geared for sports, it's main asset is making the practitioners physicaly fit
Al the rest are korean fairytales

Before WW II most korean MAstyles were dead, after WW II AND after being introduced to japanese budo and karate, there was an interest in the ancient korean arts ( out of anti japanese sentiments) of which almost no teacher survived
( same thing hapened in Japan, during the war a lot of MA's died)

Koreans are great story tellers like TKD was NOT invluenced by Karate, instead centuries before that the koreans invluenced the Japanese ( then how come karate wasn't know on the mainland before 1922?)
