Default Have you heard of this?

There is a guy on my base who has started teaching Butaijutsu. Supposedly its a mix of Nijitsu and Jujusu. Has anyone got any experience with this art? I'd like to do at least something in the meantime while I get back into the swing of things, and this is the closest place to me where I could get any training in the martial arts (of any sort). I'm still looking towards JKD and would look to integrate anything I'd learn into my way of fighting, but I'm just afraid they'll try to traditionalize their class and won't teach me what I want to learn (which for the most part is more grappling).

Ninjitsu and jiujutsu? Sounds like it could be bullshitsu. Watch a lesson and see what he is teaching. That's the only way to find out.

Dubious heratage,

Jujitsu is/was the art which the samuri 'created'

Ninjitsu is based on a thing that supposedly never existed... (search for all trolls on Nija etc)

chances are the guys knows something about MA but is spicing up the namings to get people interested

My thoughts exactly. I'll swing by someday and check out a class and see what he's selling.

Ninjas are the ones with the black dresses; they use them to be invisible in the night

check out ralph severe and his art of combat website. or if you dare go to bax forum, he post there extensively. He laid down some historical info regarding Nippo Taijutsu , and the line of instructors in the art of ninjutsu

To start with Ninjitsu isn't an art on itself, the most well know school consists many of the arts the headmaster was already training before he was known as a ninjitsu master
Taijitsu is the jujitsu of the ninja although the term was also used by others as equal to ju jitsu
Bu tai jitsu would be Warrior body Art...mmmmm sounds like a tattoo

i train in a combination of the two from the one place or at least used to i am sorta between dojo's right now since my sensai went back to japan. See if what the guy is doing is crap or not lol. If it is crap don't learn if its not, then learn.

There is some good stuff i found in ninpo (higher order of ninjutsu/ninjitsu) although i got some unhappy ppl complaining about it in another thread. have a look in What is the best martial art style to learn?
that has some info i have posted on it as well as ppl saying how its all crap u can develop your own opinion.

Just remember, ninjas are so cool they make me want to crap my pants.

Oh yeah, and these facts will help anyone hoping to delve into the esoteric realms of ninpoop:

Facts:

1.*** Ninjas are mammals.

2.*** Ninjas fight ALL the time.

3.*** The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people.

ninja weren't much different of samurai, they were the ones responsible for co-op missions ( is co-op the right term?)
They have been made in some kind ofmystical warrior with special powers, better than the samurai
Well you had several stages of samurai wich actually are just soldiers there were even courtsamurai, these didn't have much martial skills

take look at the Lone Wolf and Cub series to get an impression
You won't see much oof the black pyjama they are wearing now ( which is based on the judo kimono ( like the karate kimono is too)

When my Karate teacher was in his assistant course, on of the other student started doing it ( it was stil not being practiced in my country) and because of his stories he got the name ceilingcrawler
Funny this guy that year he attended his first ninjitsu training from Bo F Munthe and only got a certificate for training there 3 days, next year he was a 4th dan promoted by Maasaki Hatsumi after that he recieved a dan in less than a year until 8th dan and still talking about the mental part of it, this guy couldn't even attend the assistant course succesfully

What I have read Ninjutsu (bujikan budo taijutsu) is pretty effective. So is Jiujitsu. Go and see the class. I don´t think that any of the guys here (including me, just mentioned in order to prevent any "you think you´re somehow better than other here??" quotes.) can tell you if that style totally suck or not.

I think ninjas were the dudes who used to spy and chop some royal japanese dudes
Seriously there are a lot of Ninjutsu or Ninjitsu???? (they're crazy about it,i hope they won't smack me down because of bad spelling!!!)
Nowadays there is no real/authentic ninjutsu school. There is the Dux-Ryu, school of well-know Frank Dux,
there is also tew's ryu ninjitsu, this guy has a website ,but don't remember the adress.
Got to bax Forum where Mr.Kamyama will hopefully clear things up for you.
It is said that Ninjutsu use the same concept of JKD "take what is usefull, reject what is useless" but i'm not quite sure about this, these guys seems very traditional.
