Travis Lutter Wins USA National Abu Dhabi Qualifier!

11/18/00 - In front of a packed house in Evansville, Indiana Travis Lutter won all his matches in the USA National Abu Dhabi Qualifier.

In his first fight of the evening Travis beat Marcello Grosso (BJJ Black Belt from Detroit, MI via Rio de Janeiro) with a score of 2-0.

In the second round Travis beat Ivan Salaverri (AMC Pankration, Seattle, WA. - a Matt Hume fighter) by DNF. Travis attempted to roll Ivan and but Ivan landed on his head. When Ivan went unconscious for a few seconds the doctor called the fight after it became apparent that Ivan was hurt and should not continue.

In his final match of the evening Travis defeated 2000 Brown Belt World Champion Alexandre Ribeiro (Brown belt Gracie JJ, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, brother of Saulo Ribeiro).

The match was very exciting with both competitors flying all over the place scoring points. In the last seconds of the match Travis out-pointed Alexandre with a take down to win the fight. The crowd went nuts, and Travis spent the next several minutes signing autographs and being interviewed.

Congratulations to you Travis for a job well done! Your students, Carlos Machado, and all Machado students world-wide are extremely proud of you. You are an inspiration to us all!
