Default An interesting turn of events for the Gracie Team

As part of "Team Japan versus the Gracie Family," Dream Stage Entertainment's inaugural "Bushido" show will feature Carlos "The Ronin" Newton versus Renzo Gracie.

Though Newton is a citizen of Canada, his popularity and familiarity with the Japanese fans led to his joining of Team Japan in their quest to defeat the Gracie Family.

Under the guidance of coach Royce Gracie, Team Gracie will take on a lineup of some of Japan's elite mixed martial artists.

FIGHTCARD:

Renzo Gracie vs. Carlos Newton
Ryan Gracie vs. Kazuhiro Hamanaka
Rodrigo Gracie vs. Daiju Takase
Daniel Gracie vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura
Ralph Gracie vs. Dokonjonosuke Mishima
(Card Subject to Change)
The live event is scheduled for October 5, 2003 from the Saitama Super Arena in Japan and a total of 7-8 matches overall are expected.

Bushido will be available on US pay per view (delay) on December 21, 2003, at a special reduced rate of $19.95.

From my understanding Sakurai was injured and that's why Carlos is fighting Renzo. I myself would rather have seen Sakurai because he is so blasted dangerous ... besides that, Newton is kind of...um ... flamboyant in a way. I just don't care for him that much. Nevertheless it should be a good fight. Newton is a good fighter but honestly I don't think he can beat Renzo. At least, I hope not...

Nothing.
The fame of the Gracie family is build on Royce's first appearences in UFC. All members of Gracie family maybe good fighters but not so important that it is strongly needed to watch the fights.

the difference between other fighters and rickson is excactly that, they are just fighters, rickson is a warrior, hopefully he will start fighting again and silence his critics.
as for how much i would pay to see him fight, that depends on his opponent. if it was silva, pele, nog or sylvia i would get a bank loan for a ring side seat

Default rickson still?

Guys,
I am brand new to this forum. But it has been so long since Rickson last fought, i honeslty do not believe he wants to fight anymore. Why would he, i am not sure how old he is, but he older than Royce, who has not fought for a long time too.
Rickson is not coming back, if you guys need a gracie to cheer for and some one who is on the way up, perhaps Rodrigo is a better bet. He is fresh, he is hungry. He is no Rickson, but he is probably the most fresh and leading Gracie currently.
