no this isn't a topic about marijuana.
I have some joint inflamation, probably tendonitis, something like tennis elbow, but of the shoulder. I have tried Glucosamine Sulfate, Chondroitin and Chondroitin Sulfate and Bromelaine. I heard on the radio that accupuncture really helps quickly but I tried it once for back spasms and the machine with the electrodes helped much better. Besides some injections and surgery, anyone have some suggestions? OK, OK you Muthers, I know the joints are getting squeakier because they are older than yours. I know if I didn't say this you freaks like KeithWus and EJ would say sheeet about the age. You dudes are just jealous that you hope that you are still able to put on a Gi when you are my age. We'll see when that time comes, you might have that beer gut and you need to buy a Gi 2 sizes bigger just because of the waist. HA! |

Sweep'em, what do you think of the Glucosamine Chondroitin?
I've been taking it off and on for about 6 months now. I take the Sundown brand Osteo-Bi-Flex maximum strength. The impression I get is that it seems to make the joints more lubricated. They seem to not feel as "catchy" and "grinding". Other than that, it doesn't seem to lessen the pain. Is that the impression you get? Well Sweepy, I believe you and I are about the same age. (who said that?) About 4 months ago I jacked up a tendon in my elbow. I couldn’t get the thing to heal. Admittedly I didn’t care for it all that well at first. I kept thinking it was OK and then finding out that it wasn’t. I tried ice, oral anti inflammatories, Glucosamine Chondroitin, acupuncture, cortisone cream, ultra sound, colloidal minerals, sacrificing a virgin at midnight….. you name it.
A few weeks ago I gave up went in and had the damn thing injected with cortisone. I am now back lifting and training. Not full force yet, but I was unable to do much of anything that was not lower body oriented before the injection. I know it’s not a good thing to do on a regular basis, but once you have exhausted the other alternatives……. Good heavens, I just made a serious post. WTF happened? |

what to do:
1. use light dumbells and work the deltoids. use a weight that does not hurt. 5-20 lbs. do lateral raises all the way up. 10x immediately do raises with elbows in front of you and bent and raise arms in an "L" shape. 10x immediately do military press 10x immediately do front raises 10x. the idea is to strengthen the tendons. 3 sets. go see a physical therapist. ice daily 15". Also, try rolling with no gi top. ANd lift. Try increase blood flow into area. Warm up well so sweating. Do light sets of bench, military, etc. Find the exercise that hurts when you do it and then do light weight. Or do supplemental exercises to strengthen area around the soreness. The key is to experiment. Give yourself time to heal, but work out along the way. Be patient. May take awhile. Experiment. Good luck. |

One cure... Go to the Amazon Rain Forest and try to find THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!!!
Thousands of Spaniards died trying to find the legendary place... but a man of your... AH... "resources" would have no problems.

I guess I'm just going to have to start lifting weights. My doctor told me I need to do light lifting like Anaconda described to strenthen the ancilliary stabilizer muscles around my wrecked knees. Carlos Machado says that weight training is essential for injury prevention. I hate lifting weights but I guess I'm gonna have to start. |
