Default Leg and Arm Wraps

I've never been told of or read any benifits of arm and leg wraps. But I've seen alot of people with them on. I know boxers use a sort of tape for their arms. But what do people use for leg wraps and where should they be applyed. Im asking this because I tryed wrapping a pair of ace bandages around my calf muscles. I noticed a spring in my step. When I trained the heavy bag I was kicking the thing harder and quicker than I thought I was capapble of doing. Could someone instruct me on the proper procedures and materials for a leg wrap.?

I think that in the case of hairy people such as myself it acts to make your limbs more aerodynamic. hehe

I've never used leg wraps, but I use arm wraps when on the bag occasionally. They tend to reinforce the wrist to make your punches more solid, as well as give you a bit of material to grab to the same end.

The fact you don't skin your hands up as much as hitting the bag barefisted also helps.

Maybe leg wraps would make it more comfortable to hit the bag hard? It's only pain, though.

(by the way - hi, I'm new here).

Don't some Judoka wrap their feet for comps? I've never been to a competition so I don't know this for sure. But it would make sense. I've thought about wraping my feet for class. I want to tape all my toes together so they don't get pulled apart and end up broken.

I would wrap up only to prevent tearing up my skin. I gotta look purty for the ladies. Hit a bag enough and your hands will dry up and crack and thats not good for me. Also wraps will give your joints some support. My sister had to wrap her feet when she found out she was flat footed. It kept her going without the pain when she played sports. Also they look cool.
