How much control do most people have during a fight? Adrenaline is pumping added with some sweat, the unpredictability of your opponent and perhaps a couple of beers is more than enough to make controling joint locks even more difficult than they are. Lets not even get started on the few people that are double jointed. Joint locks are definetly not my first choice during a fight but I would have no problem using them before the fight. I know joint locks are good for controlling the situation but it is kinda hard for me to think straight when I'm all riled up and I probably couldn't control the guy and may end up following through at least some of the way to cause serious strain to that joint if not breaking it. They always end up resisting the lock thinking they can get out. I could say they broke their own arm I guess. Ok I may not get away with that. I don't like to break things it gets too messy and its gross when their arm just dangles there.

Training and self-control mean everything in a fight or any bad situation. The person that can keep their head will usually be able to use the skills they have and overcome their enemy.
