Default Questions on MSDA.

Hi,

My name is Andy and I'm a 15 year old guy who is clueless on martial arts but is eager to take it up as a hobby. Ive got a few questions on the MSDA and their Jeet Kune Do classes.

Is there anything I should do before starting to take classes?

I stretch every night, do pushups, sit-ups, and occasionally weight lift. (I'm doing a conditioning course named TAC this summer, I did it last summer and it helped a lot.)

What would I be learning in the first 10 lessons or so of Jeet Kune Do at MSDA?

What are the ages to students at the MSDA range from, will I have any people my age taking classes with me?

Also one last question, it might seem silly, but is Jeet Kune Do pronounce "Jet Kun Doe"

Thanks for helping me out,
Andy Peterson.

Andy,

Hello. Ill try to answer some of your questions.

1. everything you are doing will help but in truth it is best to just get into class and get started. Running sprint is a good idea.

2. what you learn will depend one you. JKD is about being exposed to alot of different skills and then using what skills work best for you.

3. most of us are 20 or older. we have 2 guys your age but they dont come very often.

4. umm. drop the e. i think.

Come by and watch a class. Even better come by and try a class or 2.

Derek

Hi,

Derek gave you some good answers.

In the first 10 classes you'd be learning the basics of offensive and defense, strikes, ground fighting, etc...

You are more than welcome to come in and try a free class. That's the best way to get your questions answered.

I'll have another 15 year old signing up soon...Wed. evening I think.

Look forward to meeting you,

Tim

Ok thats good that you offer taking a free class. I'm very busy with finals coming up next week but after that I will try a class and ask some questions. Hopefully I will like it and continue doing it. Oh I talked to my Mom about it and she thought it was a really good idea, so it looks good. :-D

later,
Andy

Hello,

You can just show up. Wear shorts, tshirt and wrestling shoes. If you don't have the shoes you can go barefoot or wear socks.

Do you mainly teach at the mason location or the other location?
