Default the weird thing about taijutsu

Anybody feel like when you do a technique correctly, it's like the entire universe is behind you? Like the earth and sky and all of the planets are doing the technique through you? I swear I'm not tripping, but that's kind of how it feels to me... just wondering if anybody else gets this. I just haven't experienced it before. For me it feels very different than getting a technique correct in, say, Muay Thai or boxing.

Positive. But I only feel it when I do something perfectly. I definitely can feel that I'm doing things right when I land a good, say, Thai kick but it doesn't feel..universal... Taijutsu just feels like it's more than just physical to me.

I think you are doing to many mushrooms lol . I think when you are at one with your environment and situation there is a moment of clarity and invincibility. I know the feeling.

But for me things aren’t always necessarily executed perfectly on the physical level but on the mental level and after the incident or encounter is over you wonder how you survived or how you did that.

What is really cool about the whole thing is when you realize all those repetitions (done correctly and appropriately of course) you did in the gym or on the shooting range and all those drills you ran against that mother fucking partner-opponent who always presented you with a challenge (and bruises) really paid off.

I am drug-free. I mean I definitely feel a sense of invincibility when I kick the shit out of a Thai bag, but something about the alignment in taijutsu has a different feel to it. I can't really explain it except to say that I can feel when it's right. Not like a Thai kick where you can tell you landed a good solid kick, but it feels like...um...like doing a really good front roll and you're like, "what just happened?" except it felt right and now you're standing.

Yeah, when I was in Sedona on this hike I really shouldn't have gone on (but I didn't know it was that steep and it got dark that early, etc.) I remember thinking about a friend of mine who I train MMA with who whenever I complain about something would ask, "Are you tapping out?" Cos if not stfu! Then I'd kick his ass. Okay, not really. Then I'd get back in the fight though... Somehow I think training helped me get down to the bottom of that hill... And the next day I found out that tourists are rescued from that hill at night almost every weekend.. .So I can credit MMA with helping me avoid a bad situation, even though it wasn't really SD...

I don't really train taijutsu (yet, I'm trying to decide whether I want to) but I notice that no matter how complicated the technique is if I start looking at my feet or correcting my stance or whatever they're like "Don't look at your feet, keep your head up, stay in the fight!" or even, "Forget about the drill for now just step off line ten times in a row so you're not training yourself to pause in the middle of a fight" etc. I still don't know how alive it is but those are good signs.

Nothing so profound for me, but I get what you mean. When timing and leverage coincide everything feels effortless. Unless I don't get what you mean and I'm totally missing the point here.

Treelizard-

For me it feels the same rather everything perfectly lines up and I actually make a perfect movement correlating with the perfect timing say an Osoto-gari that knocks my opponent out cold or I make a really fast drawstroke from concealment and hit my target between the eyes with my first shot.

Or things go wrong and get a little sloppy like trying to draw from under a sweat shirt and a rain poncho in the slippery mud with a coke in one hand and instead of hitting the target between the eyes I hit the target in the shoulder then the head with the follow-up shots before he gets me (a more realistic scenario)…either way its a good feeling.

But I know what you mean especially learning something new and being able to execute it correctly in a short amount of time...that's cool too. But be mindful of NRE (new relationship energy) because something once new, fun, and exciting can later down the road become routine.

But then again I am not very sensitive spiritually...or maybe I'm not smoking enough mushrooms hehe.

This guy sounds brilliant. I'd like to pick his mind on training tips and techniques.

PS...sorry tree...I know you didn't see any UFO's...Dick says they only come out at night.
