Allow me to start by telling you what Ninjitsu is not. I get so tired of people telling me There is nothing wrong with that and I have nothing against those who practice shoto kan. However, they miss out on how to be elusive as wind and how to deal with energy as one would in water. Please, take notice once again of what I have not mentioned here.

Jubaji, I apologize if I came across as conceited, I think I gave you the wrong idea.

M.artist, I appreciate the compliment, I wish I were deserving of it. Unfortunatly, no, I'm not near TX, rather I'm in PA. However, I'd love to swap ideas with ya.

If someone says that they know Ninjitsu and can you nothing about kihon happo, walk away from them because they do not know what they are talking about. Kihon happo means foundation or fundamentals of eight. These are eight techniques which form the backbone of Ninjitsu. From the first class until the death of the practitioner, every Ninjitsu technique is an offshoot or variation of these eight.
Although I am familiar with Kihon Happo, the techniques involved, others need to know that there are other schools of Ninjitsu that do not teach these traditions and do not address many of their teaching using Japanese terms. So, if asked, you may get an answer in English, Spanish or some other language. It is Ninjitsu nonetheless. It may seem that we say things that are similar but in a different language. Some teachings on the basic actually have only one fundamental foundation such as "Invisibility and Stealth." Two words, but one fundamental. So I wouldn't recommend walking away because of the term Happo.

Quote:
From here, the techniques of Ninjitsu also reflect all five of the godai, or elements. There is wind, fire, water, earth, and void. The kihon happo all reflect these godai. The master practitioner will be able to mix the elements, represented by void. Many arts only practice one or two of the godai. For example, the symbol of Shoto Kan is the tiger and represents fire and earth as their techniques are feriocious, strong and grounded. There is nothing wrong with that and I have nothing against those who practice shoto kan. However, they miss out on how to be elusive as wind and how to deal with energy as one would in water. Life happens in circles, one must complete the circle by studying both sides.
The five elements you speak of hear are also depicted in the Book of Five Rings. Excellent for Sword schools. Some other schools of Ninjitsu also study the Book but use these terms in their literal sense as defined by the Author. Your's seems to be a re-definition of the Author's intent or a re-use of the terms. But actually, I rather like your redefinitions and have actually incorporated these definition somewhat in my personal theories and practices about 3 months ago. However, I have been reminded that the actual Author's definitions are somewhat different.

Quote:
All that being said, there is still one thing in need of mentioning. Nokozushi. This is the study of angles, balance, and circles. One can control their opponent if they control their balance. The Ninjitsu student will study how to off balance their opponent at the same time as maintaining their own balance. It is important that every student knows balance inside and out as you cannot progress in Ninjitsu without a thorough understanding of balance.
Balance is an excellent subject to be discussed by all m'artist. I hope we can start a new thread and just discuss the subject of balance. We all have this weakness and must constantly practice to get better.

In conclusion, .......I formally request that you respect my art, as I do yours, and if you do not know what you are talking about, please do not show me or any other practitioners further disrespect by misrepresenting us.
If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I too hope that we all respect one another and try to learn from one another. Seems that these forums somehow breed people of no use. I hope that between the useless Reply's, we can have a good session on Ninjitsu. Enjoyed your post and have actually went back a re-visited Kihon Happo and inadvertently came across a great discussion on Ichi monji No kata dealing with footwork and the stance. Very interesting.

Thumbs up Ichimonji

I am glad that u enjoyed the post. I am curious -- after revisiting the kihon happo, what did you discover involving the footwork in ichimonji?

Theres a whole lot of people taking this very seriously. Your all barmy, go do some training

Whether Ninjas really existed or did not there is / are martial arts out there based on Ninja lore (or truth).

I have only ever met one ninjitsu practitioner, and they were not of any standard to be judged by.

This things that ninjitsu practitioners claim to achieve range from the quite sensible to the outrageous, but the real test is <i> does it work </i>?.

I would love to meet some other ninjitsu practitioners and have a roll around with them just to get a look at the art (regardless of heritage), any one in the South East UK?

Talking UMM yeah

Ninjitsu i believe, is real first of all. People way back I don't think would make it up so they could earn a profit. they might be more concerned with serious situations. second I would like to ask all those believers in Ninjitsu,

Has anyone learned the art of ninjitsu?

Wink Learned???

Depends on your definition of "learned." One can study this for YEARS and never still learn it. The details are just immense. <wink>

Just a question. Just want to clarify that you are completely convinced as to the veracity of the no-touch ki attack. You are making that declaration, yes?
