I watched this show to, when it said he was a champion I thought they were talking about those actual fighting tournaments, and it was actually that dance thing.
Now when he kicked this pad the computer said 2200 something psi ? But other machines measure differently right ? I wonder what it would of said if an actual thai boxer kicked that same pad

That show was gay. I did'nt watch the whole show, so I can't give it the official 5-fag- rating.
Just because you know "horse stance" or whatever, and can jump around like a bipolar monkey doesnt make you any kind of champion, not in my mind anyways. Discovery dropped the ball, at least jesse james still kicks ass. |

What are you all ragin' 'bout??? The show kicked royal butt! I'm going out right now and signing up for a gymnastics/kata course. Gotta shave my back too if I plan to compete with these pretty boys and make the big bucks doing movies and selling info-videos and stuff.

i just fail to see how this is martial art..
in my opinion, humble as it is, martial art is about the art of fighting.. the art of hurting your opponent, killing your opponent, leaving your opponent defenceless and so on.. it is NOT about "yay, let us jump around in gay suits playing fucking fairies".. it is about being able to defend yourself, and to be able to hurt other human beings in the most efficient way.. very simple.

I watched about 5 minutes of that show and it was total shit.
And what the hell is up with these overweight, mullet sporting butter hogs? The mullet/butter hog never misses a board breaking competition, and you know that any board would buckle under the weight of his fat ass.

Good lord...... this television show represented all that is wrong in MA's today. The flashy dance competitons, the 13 year olds with blackbelts, the katas, the horse stances, I couldn't stop thinking "So THIS is what it feels like to be part of a McDojo". True, I did fall asleep about half way through the program because I was getting tired of the "6 Time World Champion" constantly explaining how important bowing and tradition is, but my favorite part had to be at "armbar" at the beginning of the program.
Seriously... only a Mcdojo Striker could apply an armbar this poorly. Did anyone else see this? Basically the guy applying the armbar PULLED down the opponent's arm across his knee. As we all know the most efficient way to apply pressure is to raise your hips while holding the arm, but of course this requires you to be TIGHT to your opponent, there was tons of room between the McDojo practitioner and his opponent. I was laughing so hard it made me remember the time I saw "ShotoKan Groundfighting" in Black Belt magazine !

HAHAHA!!! You guys are so right!! I enjoyed reading this thread very much! I already trashed this show on budoseek so I dont feel like replying again, but that fag takes his shirt off to do "traditional" katas. How is that traditional? He sprays water out of his mouth like Tripple H to look cool! What a moron.
The sword kid mentioned he does crazy things that could make you commit suicide but are attemtable. Its funny how the show itself admitted how unuseful their martial arts are to actual combat! How worthless! It showed Fumio Dimura. I wonder if he actually knew what this show he was being filmed for was about!! Im sick of rich bratty kids spending outragious amounts of cash to go to world competitions in point matches and forms! The necklace wearing also made me luagh and his big mouthed 16 year old disciple with his N Sync outfit on for his staff competition! Haha!

I don't like how these "useless" MA's give people, especially kids a false sense of security. Basically a lot of these people, even if it's very minor think they are bad-ass on some level. When they get into a street confrontation or a school fight they think they have to tools to do something when a sane person would either run or find another means to end the fight. This ends up with them getting their butt's kicked and/or their egos hurt. I think the psychological damage is even worse than physical. I just read NHB: Evolution and it quotes that many fighters from the first UFC from TMA's were totally destroyed over the fact that Royce Gracie totally dominated them. Something they believed in for a long period of time has been torn apart and thrown out the door. This is a very very dangerous scenario.
If someone is doing TMA's for athletic purposes or asthetic purposes. Thats great. For example, Tai-chi ppl don't walk around thinking their bad ass. They practice their because it more of centering their concentration and such, and for most of the practioners (usually old ppl) its the only type of motion excercise they can do. However when an art like TKD preaches "self-defense" or XMA with their flashy bullcrap, its just totally wrong. People like this should advertise "self-defense against only who do not have any knowledge of progressive MA's" Oh yeah and that dude cannot possibly kick that hard, he looks like hes straight up out of Benny "the Jet" era of kickboxing, PATHETIC!!

Y'all fail to realize the purpose of what the show was designed for. it was mainly to display what the human body is capable of, and how the dynamics work. I agree that much of the tournament crap they showed was just that.. crap, but the stuff with weapons and the dynamics of what the body is doing during a technique was rather interesting. I, however, take an interest in how the human body works, so thats the only part I found interesting. The tournament stuff could have been taken out.
