How many of you train with a kung fu movie star? You know the one. You may even be the one. The one man or woman that is a black belt or close to one......that demonstrates techniques above and beyond what was covered in the class and it would be a luxury if you ever got to do them all on the street. It's a beautiful thing to see, but not when a lack of control on the movie star's part causes two newbies to experience some totally unexpected contact when NO CONTACT was specifically instructed!

People who train at my dojo don't do much flashy stuff as we have no flashy, complicated moves in the curriculum.

Most of the people I train with are humble, modest types who don't come to the dojo for the social interaction.

One guy, the Gumfather, barely spoke to anyone the first 5 years of his training. He's the longest running student and only in recent years started hanging out with me.

The man has skill though, nothing exciting or flashy, simply efficient and painful.

If anyone's the superstar in our school it would have to be me. Not that I'm great, or even that good, I just like to be the center of attention.
